Cardi B's heated moment with a fan has become a massive payout for a worthy cause!
The sensational rapper is well-known for her no-nonsense attitude and willingness to defend herself. However, her fiery persona nearly caused legal troubles for the "WAP" hitmaker after clashing with an unruly admirer.
The New Yorker went viral on social media following the release of fan-filmed clips capturing her throwing a microphone at a concertgoer. Surprisingly, the audio device in question became the star of an exorbitant auction.
Fans React As Cardi B's Viral Microphone Gets Sold For Almost $100,000
Days after the controversial encounter at one of her concerts, the Grammy winner nicknamed "Tantrum Microphone" has found a new owner. The audio amplifier, on sale for the highest bidder, left its eBay home for a whopping fee of $99,900.
As seen on the seller's page, the product, described as the "Shure Axient digital mic Cardi B threw at a person," was auctioned for charity. The winning bid was finalized on Tuesday, August 8, at 08:15 am after receiving over 100 offers from eager buyers.
The race to possess the viral mic began shortly after the "Press" artist's incident at the Drais Beach Club on July 29. A man, identified as Scott, placed the device on eBay following the incident to raise funds for a good cause.
According to the individual, he owned The Wave, which supplied audio equipment to Las Vegas nightclubs, including the venue where Cardi clashed with a fan. Scott claimed the retrieved "gadget still works" and wished to sell it for charity.
"I intend to sell the micro, but I have decided to do something good. 100% of the proceeds from the sale will go to two charities," the entrepreneur's product description read.
The chosen beneficiaries were Friendship Circle Las Vegas, a local charity that helps people with special needs, and Wounded Warrior Project, which supported severely injured veterans. The second project was special to Scott as his father and son-in-law served in the US Army.
Despite the heartwarming intentions behind the microphone's sale, not many could see the rainbow in Cardi's controversial incident. Several fans expressed disbelief at the exorbitant price for the audio device, noting it was too much even for a good cause.
One fan quipped, "People don’t know what to do with money. What exactly are they going to do with the microphone now?" Another echoed similar sentiments about the buyer, inquiring, "Who spent 90k on that …"
More shocked expressions followed with a third lamenting, "When I read this, I literally physically moved forward and put my hands on my face and exhaled." The disbelief continued as someone exclaimed, "No way! The price people will pay for a celebrity item is mind-blowing!"
While many blamed the high price on the rich flaunting their wealth, others saw a conspiracy. Some fans accused the BET Award recipient of buying the microphone for clout. "We all knew she had someone on her team buy it, was just another PR scheme," a person claimed.
"I bet she bought it herself," a fellow conspiracy theorist chimed. However, not everyone was sour about the event as a fan implored Cardi to chuck more microphones. "100k to charity? Cardi B should throw a mic each show!" The individual penned.
What Went Down Between The Queen Of Rap & The Mic-Deserving Fan
As mentioned, the "I Like It" songstress got upset while performing outdoors at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub. The voluptuous goddess flaunted her envious body in a sexy orange dress, inciting the crowd alongside the Dj to throw water on her body.
The raunchy moment passed with the 30-year-old continuing her "Bodak Yellow" performance when a female fan suddenly flung the contents of her cup at the rapper. The action not only startled the mother of two, but the drink also touched her face.
Wasting no time to retaliate, the Soul Train Music Award recipient threw her microphone at the offending concertgoer. Some fan-filmed clips captured the culprit apologizing profusely to Cardi. However, a few fans claimed the entertainer's wrath had touched the wrong person.
This unintentional victim was allegedly behind the "battery" report against the media personality. A day after the incident, the individual told the police she had been “struck by an item that was thrown from the stage.”
However, the case did not become a legal ordeal for the "Up" hitmaker as authorities dropped the investigation. In a statement released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the law enforcers announced:
"After a thorough review of this case and with the consultation from the Clark County District Attorney's Office, this case has been closed as having insufficient evidence. No charges will be filed in relation to this case."
