Megan Fox Releases 'Pretty Boys Are Poisonous' Poetry Book: 'I've Spent My Entire Life Keeping The Secrets Of Men'
On Tuesday afternoon, the “Transformers” actress took to Instagram to share the cover of her new poetry book, “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous.” The cover features the illustration of a black snake weaving through a pair of lips that have a ring in the bottom lip.
“These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence,” she wrote. “I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins.”
“My freedom lives in these pages and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness,” she concluded.
Machine Gun Kelly Shows Support For Her Book Of Poems: 'Proud Of You'
In the caption, she wrote, “I wrote a book” alongside a broken heart emoji. “Pre-order now at the link in my bio. Out November 7th.” Her fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly, was one of the first to comment, writing, “Proud of you” alongside a fire emoji. The couple’s relationship has been up and down over the past few months, but fans seemed supportive of their relationship in the comments.
It seems that Fox’s new book might rise to the top of the best-seller list pretty quickly. “Never preordered something so fast,” one fan commented. “I’ve never wanted to buy a book written by a celebrity until today,” another follower shared. “Congratulations Megan!!! So proud of you and can't wait to read this,” a third fan chimed in while other followers begged her for a chance to get a signed copy.
Megan Fox Has Previously Admitted That She Has ‘Never’ Loved Her Body
In a video for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2023 issue, the 37-year-old actress admitted that she has never loved her body. In an interview transcribed by People magazine, the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” actress admitted that she struggles with body dysmorphia and has trouble seeing her body in a positive way.
"I have body dysmorphia — I don't ever see myself the way other people see me," Megan said earlier this year. "There's never a point in my life where I loved my body, never, ever."
"When I was little, that was an obsession I had of, like, but I should look this way," the actress explained. "And why I had an awareness of my body that young I'm not sure, and it definitely wasn't environmental because I grew up in a very religious environment where bodies weren't even acknowledged."
"The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending, I think," she added, before the mom-of-three added that there was “definitely a lot of pressure” around filming the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2023 issue.
"I have a vision in my head that I'm trying to achieve, so we'll see if it pans out for me,” she said, adding, “What I most want people to know is that I'm a genuine soul who is hoping to actually belong to something and not always have to live as a misunderstood outcast.”
Fox Says That She Was Sexualized In The Media Following The Release Of 2009's 'Jennifer's Body'
The “Till Death” actress first talked about her struggles with body dysmorphia with British GQ Style in October 2021. "We may look at somebody and think, 'That person's so beautiful. Their life must be so easy.' They most likely don't feel that way about themselves," she said at the time.
She recalled how, in 2009, she found herself constantly being sexualized in films and the media following the release of “Jennifer’s Body.” She went on to say, "It wasn't just that movie, it was every day of my life, all the time, with every project I worked on and every producer I worked with.”
