Iggy Azalea is being slammed on Twitter by women, more specifically, black women imploring her to mind her own business.
Iggy Azalea Is Out Of Pocket
It was revealed in the court proceedings currently underway for Tory Lanez gun charges for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet, that Iggy took it upon herself to write a letter of support for Tory.
She and allegedly up to 70 other people including more celebs and notable people have written support letters hoping to get Tory out of prison and into rehab. The letters attest to the rapper’s character.
Allegedly performer Grimes is another person who wrote a letter supporting the “It Doesn’t Matter” rapper and his team’s efforts. Since this news has dropped women are expressing their disgust with Iggy and her incessant need to step into other people’s business.
Iggy Azalea Spoke Out
Iggy is now trying to backtrack on the decision she made but really it sounds like she is bothered that she was caught as opposed to who she is showing support to. She wrote in a post: “For the record: 1. I have not been in touch with tory for months, I have no reason to be, but I do wish him well.” She claims.
“2. I don't "support" anyone. the whole thing is full of oddities. My letter never mentioned anything in regard to what happened that night.” Then she moves on to say this suspect statement.
“3. I was told this was for a judge only, yet it's being discussed in public? I never intended to publicly comment.” Then she pretended to know about prison reform. “4. lam not in support of throwing away ANY ones life if we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative instead. I support prison reform. Period.”
Women Are Pissed Off
Twitter is buzzing with hate over Iggy still showing even the slightest bit of support for Tory. “Iggy Azalea is mad that her support of an abusive man has been made public. she is fine with an abusive man walking the streets. she saw an abusive man harass and mock his victim, and she thinks he should receive grace. you have always been a shitty person, huh,” wrote one follower.
Another follower expressed support for black women. “So if I'm understanding correctly... what Iggy wanted to happen, ideally, was to express support for someone who harmed a BW, but no one would know about it.”
Another follower felt like it wasn’t right for Iggy to comment because she has been offending black women since she stepped on the scene. “The Australian female pop 'artist' Iggy Azalea, who dons a fake Black American accent and mimics Black female rappers, wrote a letter of support on behalf of the man who shot Megan the Stallion. #GetOut.”
As a black woman myself, her “black accent” is highly offensive we all know she doesn’t speak that way she is Australian for Christ’s sake, and they barely use the same slang as the US vernacular.
Black Women Lay Into Iggy Azalea
Other black women came to the defense of Meg. “Iggy Azalea is the walking embodiment of how white women will fetishize Black womanhood--from co-opting our speech and vernacular to paying thousands to replicate our physical aesthetics to birthing Black children -but will refuse to stand in solidarity with Black women.”
Iggy loves the aesthetic of black women essentially, but the real issues are a non-factor for her. And let’s not forget people are still annoyed that she even chose to support Tory Lanez in any capacity, not just because of the race, the crime was atrocious.
“Iggy Azalea took to Twitter for "clarification" regarding her support for Tory Lanez after it was revealed she wrote a letter to the judge supporting him...honestly it sounds like she's still standing beside him, she just wasn't aware that the letter would be PUBLIC knowledge.”
