Not sure he saw it coming, but when that friend zone conversation happened, Mike handled it like a champ. While he was really enjoying getting to know Kaitlin, he knew he had some competition with Sebastian around.

Mike, 30, knew what he was getting himself into by joining "Temptation Island" as one of the singles, so he wasn't too shook about all that happened. He recently sat down with The Blast to shed some light on his side of the love triangle.

While he fully understood what he was getting himself into, he went into the experience with the mindset of what happens, happens. But one of his goals was to also help others through their journeys in any way he can.

"The whole time obviously going into there I knew that they're gonna be in relationships. I wanted to be respectful of everyone's boundaries. I think my goal going in was to sort of help them through their journey. I mean, I had my own stuff that I was hoping to work through, and I think I did," he told The Blast exclusively.

"I think I was always there to just sort of help people along with their journey, see if there could be a connection somewhere, and see what happens at the end. I'm kind of always open for new experiences and I like to saying yes to things, sometimes a little bit too much, so I thought this was like a great opportunity to expand on that."

Mike and Kaitlin hit it off pretty quickly and developed a strong connection. But there were some roadblocks in Mike's way. The first one was that Kaitlin was engaged to Hall and had some complicated feelings going on. The other roadblock was her connection to one of the other singles - Sebastian. That connection caused some tension and confusion with mixed signals.

"It wasn't the fact that Sebi was in the picture, it was more so the stuff that Kaitlin was telling me, and not all of it aired, it was more or less the emotional stuff that she was telling me about. She said that she went to the island because Hall wasn't always there to support her emotionally," he said.

"I felt like I was a shoulder to cry on for most people on the show and her opening up to me allowed me to sort of open up to her and tell her a little bit of my backstory. She was telling me all these things, I don't know, to me it felt like a deeper connection that she was having. And then to run off with Seb, it sucked a little bit, but I mean, it was more or less the mixed signals that were being tossed it felt like."

And Then It Happened - Friend Zoned!

When Kaitlin pulled Mike aside to have a little convo and ultimately friend zone him, he already had a feeling that was coming.

"I think leading up to that point, I sort of saw the writing on the wall," he said. "I always thought that Kaitlin had some sort of reason for not wanting to necessarily pursue me as much as it seemed like it was initially."

Mike decided when she friend zoned him that he wasn't going to further fight for her attention, and it was time to give up. It may have appeared that Mike and Sebastian had some issues, but Mike said they are friends.

"Never was meant to disrespect him. I know it comes off terribly on the show. I was more so talking about some of the company that he had held during the show. We're friends now, I hope we're friends," he said. "I'm at peace with myself, if he still has personal problems then I would say that's on him."

So did Mike get what he wanted out of this experience as a whole? He said yes, and that he had a great time.

"I made friends with everybody. I enjoyed everybody's time there. There was no one that I didn't like. I had a good time. I try to make a light situation out of everything. I'm not one to get too, too heavy," he explained to The Blast.

"Going into it, I tried to have no expectations because I knew if I were to say I had to do x, y, z, and if I didn't live up to those then I would be disappointed. I kinda went in as an open book. I was only authentic. I just tried to be myself in every situation."

He even said he would do another reality show if the opportunity should present itself.

"One hundred thousand million percent. Let's go. 'The Challenge' if you're listening, what's up?" he said. "I'm over the dating shows, I think."

When asked if he has anything he would want the viewers to know, he said that he was as real as he could be.

"I didn't want to put on any fronts so what you see if what you get, that's actually me. There's no hiding or trying to overdo it in everything," he said. "I went in there as an open book trying to be as real of a Mike Zappa as I could be on camera and I hope that it comes across that way."
