"Love Is Blind" reality star Nick Thompson appeared on the second season of the hit Netflix reality dating show. He proposed to Danielle Ruhl without even seeing her face and the two exchanged their "I Dos" at the altar.

Unfortunately, the couple called it quits after a year of marriage, with Danielle citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split according to court documents obtained by The Blast. Nick has since gone on to claim that the show has "ruined" his life, even going as far as to say that he is now homeless because no one will hire him due to the allegations of poor treatment he has made against the show.

Nick Thompson and his ex-wife have been very public on their respective Instagram pages about their grievances with the show, which include poor compensation for the work they performed on the show, as well as not being “treated like a prisoner.” In new comments made to the Daily Mail on Monday, the 38-year-old podcast host slammed the Netflix show for “exploiting” him and his fellow cast members. He says they were only paid $7.14 an hour for their appearance, which is below both state and federal minimum wage.

“When you think about the amount of money that's being made and the way that it's the path for future seasons, and the fact that anyone can go on and watch me… and I'm going to be homeless,” Nick told the publication, explaining that he lost his job last November and is having an “incredibly hard time” finding a new one.

He told the outlet how he “burned through” his savings and even cashed out his 401k just to make ends meet. “I’ve got two months left in the bank to pay my mortgage. I can’t get a job because people don’t take me seriously,” he added, blaming the way that the show portrayed him as part of the reason he is unable to land a new job. “I was a VP in software for five years, so it's not like I don't have a track record of experience or success,” he added.

In addition to his financial woes, the former reality star went on to talk about how he felt like a “prisoner” while he was filming the series. He claimed that not only were producers “in control of you 24 hours a day,” but he alleges that they were forced to film 18 to 20 hours a day, leaving little room for sleep.

“And that doesn't necessarily mean that you're always going to be on TV, but you're miked up from the moment you get there in the morning, and you're miked up all the way until you leave,” he added. “Then when you go home at the end of the day, you're locked in your hotel room without a key without your wallet without money without identification.”

“You literally are held captive like a prisoner and there is absolutely no reason that you shouldn't be considered an employee when you're technically under the control of your employer for 24 hours a day,” he claimed.

With the aid of other “Love Is Blind” cast members, Nick co-launched the Unscripted Cast Advocacy Network (UCAN) to provide mental health resources and legal support to past, present, and future reality TV stars.

“We were manipulated, our triggers were utilized against us,” Nick claimed. “Anything that we shared with a producer or with a psych exam was weaponized against us.” When asked if he would have signed up for the show knowing what he knows now, Nick admitted that it was a “tough question.”

“I go back and forth. I never thought I'd be on a reality TV show. Even when I took the call, I was like, I'm not for this; I am not very dramatic, I've got my s--- together and I've got a good professional job, I've done a lot of therapy. Next thing I know, I was there,” he admitted. “When I think about everything that's happened and I think about my relationship, it's hard to say I wish I never did it.”
