The Kardashians Shower Grandma MJ With Love For Her 89th Birthday

The Kardashian sisters and their mother, Kris Jenner, have honored the foundational figure of their family with heartwarming tributes.

Although she earned her status by being a model, entrepreneur, and former teacher and model, it is Mary Jo Campbell's commitment to her role as a grandmother that has brought the most joy and strength to her family, making her an influential figure not only in the public eye but also in the lives of her loved ones.

Thus, it was no surprise that Kris, along with her daughters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney, took to their respective social media platforms to express their heartfelt wishes for the older woman when her 89th birthday rolled around recently.

Leading the pack, Kris took to Instagram to honor her mother, whose affectionate nickname 'MJ' speaks to the close and loving relationship between the two. She celebrated her mother's milestone birthday with a collection of rare family shots of the cherished moments, starting with a black-and-white family portrait featuring the celebrant posing with her daughter and granddaughters.

In the second slide, MJ beamed as she, the momager, and Kim rocked matching blonde hairdos before she posed with the SKIMs founder and her great-grandkids. Other photos in the post included a view of the 89-year-old in a Halloween costume, the family surrounding her for a previous birthday party, and posing with a younger Rob Kardashian. Beneath the carousel, Kris wrote:

"Happy happy 89th Birthday to my beautiful mom M.J.!!!!! You are such an amazing mother and have given us the most spectacular childhood and upbringing I could have ever imagined. I can't believe how quickly time passes in a flash but I cherish every single precious memory we have made."

She also thanked her mother for "all the sacrifices, the lessons learned, the teachings, the kindness, compassion, understanding, dedication, drive, focus, humor, fashion, and work ethic." Kris' tribute was followed by her daughter's Kim, who took to Instagram to celebrate her grandmother's milestone with a sweet post.

Since it came a day late, the mom-of-four admitted she was too "busy celebrating you and living in the moment" and "wanted to take a minute to let the world know how truly special you are." The 42-year-old followed up with a series of media uploads to her Instagram Story, including a video where MJ joked she hoped to make it to 90.

"Girl, you're going to make it to a 189!" Khloe seemingly joked off-camera while the celebrant corrected herself and wished to make it to a 102 before blowing out the candles on her birthday cake. In a second clip, Kim asked her grandmother what she wished for her birthday, to which the latter replied was "to do this again. I'm so glad to have us all here."

In Khloe's tribute, she deemed it "an honor" to have MJ as her grandmother because the matriarch was "a keeper of secrets and a storyteller like no other." She also expressed her undying love for the celebrant, adding an appreciation "for every single memory" they shared.

As for Kourtney, she posted a throwback shot of MJ and her husband looking satisfied as they posed on a vessel on the sea. Across the image, the 44-year-old simply typed, "?grandparents."

Besides marking her birthday milestones, the Kardashian sisters have turned up for their grandmother in various ways. In one of the most memorable moves, Kim had let fans in on her decision to surprise MJ with a treat to lift her mood during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. She had disclosed via her Instagram Story at the time:

"I'm surprising my grandma today because she loves beignets so much. She has been self quarantined in her place really for over a month now. She's been really cautious, so I'm so excited to send these to her specifically. I'm going to surprise her."

Later in October 2022, the KKW Beauty founder recounted the impact of her grandmother's advice on her intimate relationship with her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson. Speaking to MJ during an episode of their reality show, "The Kardashians," she said, as quoted by US Weekly:

"Pete and I were staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel last weekend, and we were sitting in front of the fireplace just talking for hours. And I was like, 'My grandmother told me that you really live life when you have sex in front of the fireplace.' So we had sex in front of the fireplace in honor of you."
