The breakup season is not ending anytime soon as Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson join the divorce club!

It is impossible to stan Beyoncé without knowing her sensational mother, who served as the costume designer for Destiny's Child. After separating from the "Power" hitmaker's father, Matthew Knowles, the businesswoman fell for the Hollywood veteran.

After what appeared to be eight years of blissful matrimony, the fashion designer filed to dissolve the couple's union. Although the news recently dropped, it appeared Tyler Perry might have been aware of troubles in the duo's paradise.

When the most-awarded Grammy honoree dropped her iconic "Single Ladies" track, the entertainer probably never imagined her mother would embrace singlehood at 69. The businesswoman moved to end her second marriage by filing for divorce on Wednesday, July 26.

As seen in the legal documents obtained by TMZ, the mother of two listed Tuesday, July 25, as the former couple's date of separation. As for the reason, Knowles followed the typical trend of citing "irreconcilable differences."

The Texas native appeared to want nothing more to do with the "Poltergeist" actor as she requested the court deny both parties any spousal support. There would be no child allowances as the soon-to-be-divorced spouses did not welcome kids during their longtime relationship.

Additionally, Miss Tina by Tina Knowles's creator wished for her birth name to be restored as "Celestine Knowles." The 69-year-old legally changed her identity to "Celestine Lawson" after tieing the knot to the Hollywood veteran.

So how does the Tyler Perry Studios founder fit into the picture? Weeks earlier, the filmmaker teased the production of a new movie ironically about divorce. If the title "Divorce in the Black" did not stir minds about his intentions, the cast members were enough to raise eyebrows.

What better way to create a movie about separation than to use people with firsthand experiences? Perry's upcoming film featured famous divorcees like Meagan Good, Cory Hardrict, and Debbi Morgan alongside Joseph Lee Anderson, Taylor Polidore, and Shannon Wallace.

The movie's plot reportedly follows the story of Ava, a young bank staffer whose life was derailed when her husband, Dallas, wished to end their marriage despite her willingness to fight for their union.

However, in a captivating plot twist, fate helped Ava discover her beau's unforgivable sins. Dallas had “sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.” Commemorating his success, Perry shared a screenshot of the cast members on his Instagram page.

Surprised by Lawson's participation in the movie, some fans suspected the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame honoree had included the 76-year-old because of problems in his relationship with Knowles.

"Wait, Richard Lawson is still married to Tina Knowles, or did I miss something?" A social media user wondered. "This is news," another chimed. "Didn't know Beyoncé's mom got divorced from Richard Lawson. Welp."

Before filing to end her eight-year romance with the "All My Children" actor, the "Cuff" songstress's mother and the entertainer had known each other for decades. Their relationship timeline began in the 80s when the pair first met while Knowles was pregnant with Beyoncé.

Because she was still married to Mathew, the TV personality did not air his affection for the fashion designer. However, two years after the mother of two ended her union in 2011, the duo reconnected and started dating.

They made their first public appearance as an item at the Angel Ball in October 2013. A year later, the businesswoman raved about her love for Lawson while speaking at the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation 8th annual Women and Money Leadership luncheon.

“It’s been now a year and five months, and I’m in a committed relationship with that handsome man! And I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long, long time,” the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth co-founder said about her relationship.

The then-couple announced their engagement in 2014 before saying their vows in an intimate yacht ceremony in April 2015. The event occurred off Newport Beach with the pair's children in attendance.

In the following years, the lovebirds appeared as a united front, supporting each other and celebrating various milestones. However, speculations about their diminished chemistry came in January 2023 when Lawson was absent from Beyoncé's Renaissance tour.

Despite fans' worries, the "Sister, Sister" star claimed there were no cracks in his relationship. “I’m doing a series here in LA and working on my film. Thanks for your concern. It’s all good,” the 76-year-old declared.
