Will.i.am Believes Britney Spears Has ‘Unreleased’ Music With Pharrell

Singer Britney Spears and will.i.am have finally released "Mind Your Business," the duo's fourth collaboration together.

The new song dropped last Friday at midnight and fans have been loving the new tune so far. This single marks Britney's second song following her controversial conservatorship. The first, "Hold Me Closer," with Sir Elton John, was released last August.

Fans understandably want to hear more music from the pop star, and will.i.am believes that she has a lot of music that fans haven't heard yet, including collaborations with other artists. He described Britney as "prolific" and an "idea factory," giving fans hope that Britney is well on her way to making a career comeback.

In an interview with TMZ Live, will.i.am said that he “Always loved working with Britney,” adding, “I’ve had the honors of working with her for multiple songs. One was a Big Fat Bass, then Scream & Shout, then Work B----, and now Mind Your Business. So to have four songs with the Princess of Pop is amazing.”

The Black Eyed Peas frontman also discussed the meaning of their new song, “Mind Your Business.” Although fans thought it was about the pop star’s relationship with the paparazzi, will.i.am believes that the song can actually apply to everyone, especially through the lens of social media.

“So we live in a time where not only celebrities and famous people have their privacy infringed upon. Everybody has their privacy infringed upon, hence the lyrics, ‘too much lookie lookie, I’m so sick of all these watch hands up in a cookie jar. They watching me, they watching y’all,’ like every single person that is on social media, they didn’t read the terms and conditions that have people in their cookies. You too are infringed upon when it comes to your privacy and that should not be the case.”

When asked if Britney has plans to release any new music, will.i.am said, “I can tell you from this experience of fine tuning, Mind Your Business, um, she went over some ideas, like, ‘Hey put this on it,’ and I’m like, ‘Yo, Britney, this is idea, that you just gave right now, is actually a new song. This is freaking crazy.’”

“She gave this idea,” he continued. “I was like, ‘Wow, wow, wait, you can’t just throw this away in this song. This is a whole song within itself.’ She has ideas and an idea factory. I could only imagine that Britney is sitting on a plethora of songs that she’s done with different producers. I’m pretty sure her and Pharrell probably have stuff that was unreleased.”

“I’m pretty sure that she has to have… no artist that is that prolific, that’s an idea machine, doesn’t have a plethora of song,” he added. “The moment she goes in the studio and focuses on a record, you know it’s going to be earth shattering. I just, it’s going to be earth scattering because there’s not that many people that have been through what she’s been through that is going to help folks that having similar situations.”

As to what Britney plans to do next, will.i.am ventured, “Maybe she’s going to want to dig in the path, but maybe, just maybe, she’s going to want to start fresh. But whatever it is, it’s going to be amazing. I know it.”

In a separate interview with Extra, the Grammy winner revealed that he and Britney first started working on the song back in 2000. “Like, some songs are meant to come out immediately when you write them and some songs are supposed to sit for a minute, and ‘Mind Your Business’ is another one of those songs that was written and, you know, we started putting the concepts together,” he explained.

“Mind Your Business was what summarized that banter between she and I — that, and everybody has that right to have things that are precious to them,” he continued. “You shouldn't have to share everything. Her picture is a price and people are chasing to get paid. Like, how is that a life to live?”

He also said that the pop star is “one of the nicest, dearest people in our industry, adding, “And working with her is always a joy. And it's an honor and a pleasure to have worked with her in the past and work with her now.”

“It's awesome working with her in the studio,” he added. “She has tons of ideas, but writing the song, I took a different approach. So, we went through these discussions, and I would take notes. We would just talk about all these different types of subjects: fame, love, aspirations, dreams. It was about privacy and fame.”

When asked how Britney feels now, will.i.am said that he just feels “joy” from the singer. “I don't see Britney every day, but I see her the way a lot of people see her, and that is what she shares on Instagram, and what I see on Instagram is joy,” he said.

He continued, “I see her loving to express herself and dance. I see frustration when it comes to people prying into her private life. But I see joy. I see a person that has fought for their independence and that is inspirational.”

He also went on to say that Britney was fundamental to shaping the history of pop music as a whole. “The icons, growing up in the 90s - Michael Jackson and Prince — these pop icons, that was like if you grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s, those were the ones,” he said. “You know — Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Lionel Richie. And then, in the late ’90s, 2000, you had, like, the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC… Britney was the shining star for a new generation of a pop star.”

When asked if he and Britney will ever make more music in the future, he replied, “Whenever she wants to record or write, I’m there.” Fans will keep their fingers crossed!
