On Saturday afternoon, singer Britney Spears shut down her Instagram account, which is something that the 41-year-old pop star has decided to do many times in the past.

However, fans weren't sure why she deleted her account this weekend, especially after her new song, "Mind Your Business" with will.i.am was released on Friday. Britney has done little to no promotion for the song, which follows up their 2012 collaboration "Scream & Shout." The singer has shared a few of will.i.am's Instagram posts to her Instagram Stories, but has remained mostly quiet about the song's release.

Instead, she has been using her Instagram and Twitter pages to promote her upcoming memoir, "The Woman In Me," which hits bookshelves on October 24, 2023. Fortunately, as of Monday morning, the singer's Instagram account was back online, and fans could see all of her previous posts promoting her memoir, as well as her famous living room bikini dancing videos, again.

Although it’s unclear how much the pop star makes from her Instagram videos, she has previously referred to it as her “part time job.” In mid-June, the pop star took to Instagram to share a quote that she credited to @yourtango that read “I walk around like everything is fine, but deep down, inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off.”

In the caption, Britney wrote, "I know I said I quit the business but doing Instagram is almost like a part time job !!! I'm always busy !!! So I'm still here with my sock sliding deep inside my shoe !!!"

Only a few days before she called Instagram her “part time job,” she told her followers that she had “quit the business” in the caption of an Instagram video that featured her dancing and spinning around a gym in Maui last year.

“This is a repost from Maui last year !!! I know it’s not that great BUT the song is my favorite song I’ve ever done !!! It was really weird because my dancers took the stage for this song 🎧 !!! Oh well !!!” she wrote in the caption of the video, which was deleted within hours of posting.

Guess all those rules and not having a voice for 13 years in what I wanted [to give] a lot of people a thrill ride !!!” she continued. “Oh well !!! Psss no wonder I quit the business JUST SAYING !!! But I’m going to London next week to go shopping 🛍️ so things aren’t too shabby !!!”

Britney Spears was subjected to numerous tours and a Las Vegas Residency that she has been very critical about in her past Instagram posts. Although it is likely that her new memoir will give fans more insight into her conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021, a source told Page Six in May that the pop star has no plans to tour again.

The source said that Britney has “trauma from touring” even if making music was still her “pride and joy.” They went on to say, “For so many years, she was handed grueling itineraries and made to perform – even before her conservatorship.”

They claimed that the “Toxic” singer’s breaking point came in 2018 “when her Las Vegas residency was finally over but then her team decided to turn it into an international tour” with more than thirty concerts throughout North America and Europe.

“She desperately needed a break after four years in Vegas and didn’t get one. And then they had the nerve to book a second Vegas residency right after,” the insider continued, although her second Las Vegas residency never happened. Although she was supposed to perform in 2019, her father, Jamie Spears, sent her to a mental health facility.

The insider explained that the “Hold Me Closer” singer “still loves dancing and making music,” adding, “She has talked about recording again and has gotten plenty of offers, some of which she’s turned down, but it’s all about timing and picking the right projects. She’s savvy like that.”

“The beauty of Britney being free again is that she gets to call the shots for the first time in a very long time, and she’ll do it at her own pace,” they added.

Fans hope that they will get to hear more from Britney’s point of view when her memoir, “The Woman In Me” is released on October 24, 2023. In the meantime, fans can stream the second song after her conservatorship, “Mind Your Business, with will.i.am.

Although she did not share the photos on Instagram, Britney took to Twitter on Monday night - when her Instagram page was still down - to share photos of her finally meeting Lance Bass' kids after he said she "flaked" on him in an interview last month.
