Jamie Foxx Explains Why He Recuperated Away From The Spotlight
In the video he posted on Friday, Foxx refrained from disclosing specific details about his health scare but provided an explanation as to why only his family was permitted to visit him during the most critical phase.
"I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show," he said in the clip. "I just didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through."
The actor also dismissed rumors about losing his motor skills due to the health scare. However, he did admit that the illness had a significant impact on him, saying he "did go to hell and back."
"My road to recovery had some potholes as well, but I'm coming back, and I'm able to work," Foxx added before concluding with "I am on my way back."
Jamie Foxx Has Made Multiple Public Appearances Since His Health Scare
Earlier in the month, Foxx was first sighted in public following his health scare, enjoying a boat ride on the Chicago River in the company of friends.
That same day, he made a return to social media, posting a tweet that hinted at his liquor brand, Brown Sugar Bourbon.
He tweeted, "Boat life, Celebrating summer with @brownsugarbbn," adding, "Stay blessed!" The actor made sure to include a fox emoji, which has now become his thing.
A few days later, he was seen performing an act of goodwill by returning a missing purse to an elderly woman while out and about in Chicago.
A recording of Foxx's kind act was taken by the woman's son, who also noted that Foxx "feels good."
"Mom lost her bag in Chicago today. Jamie fox [sic] found it and brought it to her, and he said he feel good. Y'all god is good," he captioned the video.
He Is Still On The Road To Recovery
In April, Foxx suffered a mysterious medical complication while filming his Netflix movie, "Back in Action," alongside Cameron Diaz in Atlanta.
He was hospitalized for several days at an undisclosed hospital, after which he was transferred to a private facility in Chicago.
While his recent outings and social media posts suggest that the actor is fully fit, a source recently shared that Foxx is not at "100 percent" yet.
"He's not 100 percent and is still taking things easy, but he's definitely on the road to recovery," the insider said, per Us Weekly.
The source also credited the "Django Unchained" star family for their support in these moments, adding that they are "making sure that he doesn't take on too much."
