Margot Robbie Reveals Her Strategy That Got Ryan Gosling

After the Barbie posters featuring the bare-chested, spray-tanned Hollywood heartthrob as Ken caused a frenzy, it turns out that the actor was enticed into the role with a clever bribe. Robbie confessed that she had to sweeten the deal for the 42-year-old to accept the part.

During a recent Heart Radio interview, the "Suicide Squad" actress revealed the intriguing tidbit with a playful smile, saying, "I bribed him essentially. I felt his hesitation, and i said, 'If you do this movie with us, I'll buy you a present every single day.'"

Gosling said, "And she did. Every day there was this pink wrapped present from Barbie to Ken in order to, I think, encourage Ken-ergy. They were all beach-related or horse related."

"Well, it worked," the host quipped, to which the father-of-two responded with a smile, "Yeah, it was amazing. I mean, it was a long shoot, so at a certain point, it felt like 'this is not sustainable. This can't continue,' but it did."

It turns out that "The Notebook" actor is not the only person Robbie sent gifts to. To help fellow co-star Issa Rae feel welcome in her homeland Australia, the "Neighbours" actress had a delightful goodie basket delivered to her room, knowing she is a snacker at heart.

The "La La Land" star did not hold back in response to critics who raised concerns about his portrayal of Ken in the highly anticipated "Barbie" film, particularly citing his "old" age as an issue.

During an interview with GQ, the award-winning star addressed the controversy head-on, humorously stating, "I would say, you know, if people don't want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with."

The "First Man" star also noted that he considered the entire discourse amusing, pointing out that his character never received much attention until he (Gosling) was cast.

The "The Ides of March" actor noted, "But suddenly, it's like, 'No, we've cared about Ken this whole time,' No, you didn't. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never f**ked with Ken. That's the point."

In a powerful conclusion to the interview, the "Crazy, Stupid, Love" star directly addressed the critics, stating, "If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told."

Gosling also playfully embraced his role as the character's "representative," humorously remarking, "I care about this dude now. I'm like his representative. Ken couldn't show up to receive this award, so I'm here to accept it for him."

Despite concerns from fans, Mattel, the toy company, unveiled striking look-alike dolls of Robbie and the "Drive" actor, capturing their respective characters from the movie. Fans can see Margot Robbie as Barbie in theaters now!
