It has been rumored that actor John Boyega will be joining his "The Force Awakens" costar Daisy Ridley in her new "Star Wars" film taking place fifteen years after the events of 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker."

The two starred together in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, which covered 2015's "The Force Awakens," 2017's "The Last Jedi," and 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker," which was also the last "Star Wars" film shown in theaters.

Fans are still upset with the way Boyega's character of Finn was treated and are eager to see him return to a galaxy far, far away and have a bigger role in the film. Despite some claiming that he will be coming back to the franchise, Boyega took to Twitter earlier this week to set the record straight.

John Boyega Denies Being Cast In The New 'Star Wars' Movie... Or Any New Roles

On July 19, the “They Cloned Tyrone” actor took to Twitter to deny that he was cast in a new “Star Wars” role or any new projects. “If I am cast in any new projects, trust me, you will hear from me on any of my social media platforms,” he tweeted. “There's no news so far! So disregard any article that says otherwise. None of them have the exclusive. I am open to sleeping right now. Thanks.”

Fans were quick to say how much they wanted him to return, if only to give his character the screentime he deserved. One follower commented, “I just wish they would bring you back and do it right this time. you deserve to be a great Jedi on Film and build the character of Finn up to be more than just screaming REYYY!!! and have him help rebuild the Jedi order.”

Another user shared a screenshot from Culture Crave that claimed that Boyega was “open to all opportunities” to return to “Star Wars.” Another fan wrote, “I'm just still hoping that you will be a part of the new Star Wars bit with Daisy Ridley where Rey is trying to rebuild the Jedi Order. It'd be great to see Finn at her side wielding his own saber.”

Another follower requested, “Please please only return to Star Wars if they promise to treat Finn right and make him/you a Jedi.” However, some fans were quick to say they would support his career, even if he didn’t return to a galaxy far, far away. “Bro whether you’re acting, producing, writing, or whatever we backing you all the way no matter what,” another fan added.

Boyega has shut down claims that he plans to return to the franchise in the past. "At this point, I’m cool off it. I’m good off it," Boyega said in an August 2022 interview with SiriusXM’s Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang when asked if he would play Finn again. "I think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation. But I feel like '[Episode] VII' to '[Episode] IX' was good for me."

However, that same month, he told Vanity Fair that he is still a fan of the franchise and plans to keep up with the latest Disney+ series. “People always get shocked! Industry issues have nothing to do with Star Wars and me being a fan of it. I've been watching Obi-Wan, I've been watching The Mandalorian,” he said.

"I'm still forever going to be a fan of this franchise. As far as Finn is concerned? I'm good on that,” he continued, adding that he would support his costars if they choose to make an appearance in a galaxy far, far away. So far, Daisy Ridley is the only sequel trilogy star confirmed to return to the movie, which is expected in theaters on December 2025.

In the meantime, fans of John Boyega can catch "They Cloned Tyrone" streaming on Netflix.
