Willow Smith has been growing and glowing lately, and it is refreshing. The daughter of Hollywood icons Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has been open about her struggles with her mental health and her troubled relationship with her hair.
However, the pop star seems to give it another chance after shaving it previously in 2012 and 2021.
Hair Chameleon Willow Smith Surprises Fans With New Look
Smith served hair, face, and everything in between when she debuted her new hairstyle on her Instagram stories. The 22-year-old rocked a very short braid bob that framed her gorgeous face while wearing a black KISS shirt and showing off her arm tattoos.
Interestingly, just a couple of days prior, Willow shared pictures of her natural afro hair with her 11 million Instagram followers.
The images captured Willow in a black two-piece, basking in a scenic backdrop of mountains and trees. One particular photo highlighted Willow's joy as she stood beside a waterfall, accompanied by her dog. In addition, she shared a delightful video of herself swimming in the water with the caption, "vibratory solutions <🌞>."
Her fans complimented her beauty with one comment reading, "You don't need any make up," while another declared, "In your Dora the Explorer era." This fan wrote, "So Beautiful Boss Baby And Beautiful Vibes Positive And Elegant And Powerful," while another praised her for having hair goals.
The 'Whip My Hair' Revealed How Inner Voice Warned Her Against Being A Child Star
Smith seems to be enjoying her adult years. However, she has been very vocal about her struggles as a child star.
During an appearance on Sirius XM's "Bevelations" with Bevy Smith back in 2022, "The I Am Legend" actress opened up about her decision to step away from the spotlight, revealing her candid thoughts and reflections.
Reflecting on her past, Smith admitted, "I saw at a very young age the dark path I could've gone down." "I think I kind of caught myself before my coping mechanisms started too early. I just knew I was on that edge. I could feel it." she added.
During that period, she couldn't fully comprehend the intensity of her emotions. However, looking back, she expressed gratitude for making the choice to take a step back.
The "Meet Me At Our Spot" songstress emphasized that if she hadn't made that decision, there could have been unfortunate consequences at an earlier stage. Recognizing the importance of reclaiming her childhood, Smith explained, "I knew I needed to be a kid. Going into 12 I had touched a sadness that I didn't know existed… and that was terrifying, because I was like, I've never felt this before. This is obviously not healthy and I need this top this before it becomes a darker place."
Describing her feelings during that time, Smith expressed, "I just knew everything felt wrong and even though I experience fear in my everyday life pertaining to my music [now]. The fear is an 'upward and forward motion' fear. It's not a, like, deep heartbreaking like world-shattering fear."
Willow shared that her intuition, her higher self, guided her by sending a clear message, "No, this path will lead to negative outcomes." Trusting that inner voice has proven to be the right decision for her.
Jaden Smith Revealed Mom Jada Pinkett Smith Led the Way In Exploring Psychedelics
Willow Smith isn't the only member open about their personal experiences with their mental state.
Jaden Smith, Willow's older brother, recently revealed that their mother, Jada Pinkett, took the first step in exploring psychedelic drug usage within their family.
Speaking at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver on June 23, Jaden shared, "I think it was my mom, actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family." He explained that it was just their mother for a significant period, but eventually, the exploration expanded to other family members in their own unique ways.
Jaden emphasized that psychedelics have played a role in strengthening his bond with Willow, aged 22, and his half-brother Trey Smith, aged 30 — Will Smith's son from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
Jaden stated, "Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past. But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that's profound and beautiful," he explained.
Jada Pinkett had previously shared her journey with psychedelics, specifically plant medicine, which she began exploring about ten years ago to improve her mental well-being.
