Joe Manganiello is craving the small-town life! Following the announcement of his divorce from Sofia Vergara, the Hollywood heartthrob wants to ditch the wild side for a low-key lifestyle.
After months of speculations about their relationship, the once-beloved power couple confirmed their longtime relationship had ended in a heartbreaking joint statement. The message came after fans raised concerns about the duo's indifferent attitude towards each other during the Colombian beauty's 51st birthday.
As the pair prepared to officiate the end of their 7-year marriage in court, a source claimed the "True Blood" actor wished to leave the drama for a quieter space. The Pittsburgh native's anonymous pal implied the 46-year-old never liked his estranged wife's boisterous lifestyle.
Joe Manganiello Allegedly Longs For The Simple Habits He Abandoned For Sophia Vergara's Happiness
While netizens mourned the loss of another celebrity couple, the "Magic Mike" star plans to escape from his soon-to-be ex-wife's bougie Hollywood style of living.
A source close to the Hollywood hunk blamed the former couple's contrasting lifestyle goals as one of the reasons for their separation. After enduring the extravagant side for Vergara's happiness, the insider believed Manganiello needed a change of scenery to fulfill his down-to-earth needs.
"I don't think Joe was ever really comfortable in a giant Los Angeles mansion or on the beaches of Saint Tropez," the Pittsburgh native's pal confessed. "He saw that stuff for what it was and only let it into his life because it made Sofia happy."
Now that his ties to the "Modern Family" star were broken, the informant believed the 46-year-old would swiftly ditch the extravagance for simplicity. The source declared to The US Sun, "No way is Joe staying in Beverly Hills now that he's out of this marriage, and I would not be shocked if he found some modest small town to settle down in."
One of the things the TV personality wished to reclaim after his divorce was his former lifestyle. The Hollywood heartthrob allegedly longed to experience the down-to-earth vibes he enjoyed before meeting the Colombian beauty.
"He misses the backyard barbecues and friend group he had in the early days of his career," the insider explained. "He tried to recreate that vibe during this marriage without much success."
Manganiello could not establish the same modest vibes he experienced while growing up in the suburb of Pittsburgh in the star-studded streets of Beverly Park. The former lovebirds spent the last few years living at a $26m mansion in the lavish area.
Their 17,100-square-foot Italianate villa-style estate reportedly consisted of 7 bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms, a two-story guesthouse, a sports court, a swimming pool, and a spa. Shedding light on why this property, amongst other luxuries, did not suit the 46-year-old, the actor's friend chimed in:
"Joe is basically a normal guy trapped in the body of a superhero in this industry full of deeply weird and needy people."
"To his credit, he's been careful and smart with the money he's made from acting, but Joe isn't interested in conquering the world like Sofia is," the informant added. "He was never willing to play that game."
The 'Chasing Papi' Actress's Partying Reportedly Contributed To Her Divorce
Before Manganiello's anonymous pal addressed the actor's down-to-earth lifestyle, a source previously listed Vergara's wild side as contributing to the duo's separation. The informant claimed the Colombian beauty's frequent partying and drinking with friends was a major turnoff.
For those unaware, the "Magic Mike's Last Dance" star has been sober since his 20s after overcoming alcohol addiction. The Saturn Award recipient previously described this period as the dark phase of his life.
"I was drinking long before I moved to Los Angeles. When you're young, and you are successful at a young age, and you have negative habits, the success validates in your mind everything you're doing across the board," the Hollywood heartthrob confessed.
Although his former lover did not suffer from an addiction, watching her indulge in alcohol for fun was allegedly triggering. To avoid this issue, the Pittsburgh native would crash at his acquaintances' homes on their couches. However, his discomfort did not bother the mother of one as she hosted "cocktail nights."
Manganiello "found it challenging to be surrounded by potential temptation," and the drinking eventually became a source of friction in the couple's home. Additionally, the pair had a "tricky past couple of years" that "saw them start to drift apart during the COVID pandemic."
