On Monday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department searched a home in Henderson, Nevada, in connection with the investigation into the shooting and murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. The said residence was less than 20 miles from the Las Vegas strip where 25-year-old Shakur was shot in 1996, and he died of his injuries six days later after being struck by four bullets.

As per NY Times, the police gave a statement as well, saying, "LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. We will have no further comment at this time." No arrests have been made for now and neither have the authorities identified whose house they searched.

This BMW 7 series is the actual, bonafide car that Shakur was shot in although it did not belong to him. At the time of the shooting, it was driven by Suge Knight and originally leased by Death Row Records.

A website called Celebrity Cars has put it up for sale, claiming that this is the first time it has been up for sale or display since 2Pac's passing in 1996. The company also claims that the car has been completely restored to the condition it was in before the shooting spree, and has also been painted again.

It rides on replaced wheels which are the same ones it wore in 1996, and the bullet holes seen in the picture are just for reference, although there is one small indentation that might be a remnant of the same. Despite the bullets hitting the car, the sellers claim that it runs great and is in good condition which is quite the feat in itself.

The price for this black BMW that Tupac Shakur was shot is a whopping $1,75,000 so the buyer will not only be a Tupac Shakur fan but also a very rich one. The car itself is nowhere near that price range but it has a certain sentiment attached to it, given that it was basically the last place where the rapper was hale and hearty.

Most of us mortals who liked the dude might just be happy with a tee!

Revisiting The Rapper's Untimely Death

Tupac Shakur and Marion "Suge" Knight, head of Death Row Records left a boxing match at the MGM Grand in a black BMW 7 series, on the fateful night of September 7, 1996. While they stopped at a red light at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane on the Las Vegas Strip, a white Cadillac pulled up to the Bimmer and someone inside straight up opened fire.

Shakur was shot multiple times and was hit by four .40 caliber rounds fired from a Glock. He died from his injuries six days later and yet, even 26 years later, his murder remains an unsolved case. No one has ever been arrested or charged for the shooting, partly because witnesses refused to cooperate with authorities.

The rapper was already a superstar with hit songs like "All Eyez On Me," "Dear Mama," and "2 of Americaz Most Wanted," that last one with Snoop Dogg. His involvement with the law and subsequent prison time did nothing to reduce his popularity and as is with almost all celebrities, an untimely death made him a legend. Of course, given that he sold more than 75 million records, Shakur's legend also arose from his music, the reason why he got a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, only a little too late, as per his fans.

Shakur's been gone a long time but the mystery of his death lingers, as does his music, word, and thoughts. RIP Legend...
