Disney Cruise Line currently has five ships in its fleet -- The Disney Dream, the Disney Magic, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Wonder, and the Disney Wish -- but soon, a sixth will join as Disney prepares to debut the Disney Treasure.
Construction for The Disney Treasure began in January 2023, and Disney Cruise Line's newest ship is set to set sail in 2024 officially.
Who Will Be On The Disney Treasure?
Every Disney Cruise Line ship has an iconic character on its stern. Sorcerer Mickey is the stern character in Disney Dreams, while Goofy is in Disney Magic. Donald Duck can be found on Disney Wonder, with Dumbo being the character on Disney Fantasy's stern.
Rapunzel was the latest character to join the ship's fleet as she appears on the Disney Wish.
As Disney continues constructing the Disney Treasures, the company has revealed who will be on the ship's stern. Two iconic characters, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, will be the face of the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, which makes sense due to its name -- the Disney Treasure.
"Today, the Disney Cruise Line team is thrilled to be debuting an artist rendering of the ship's stern for the first time!' Disney Parks Blog reported. "For 25 years, each ship in the fleet has been adorned with characters from beloved Disney stories. The Disney Treasure will follow this tradition with signature character sculptures that honor the ship's motif of adventure, Peter Pan and Captain Hook."
Their report continues, "Harnessing the power of Tinker Bell's pixie dust, Peter Pan will levitate next to the Disney Treasure to add the finishing touch to the ship's stern filigree. Meanwhile, Peter Pan's longtime rival, Captain Hook, can be seen leaning out a porthole with a vengeful expression. Paintbrush and paint bucket in hand, Peter Pan sports a mischievous grin as he glances back at Captain Hook, who is dripping in yellow paint."
More On The Disney Treasure
Every Disney Cruise Line ship hosts traditional Broadway-style stage shows, and the Disney Treasure will be no different. As Imagineers continued to work on building the new boat, the company reported on how they will be bringing the Broadway shows to the Disney Treasure as well.
"The Disney Treasure will continue the Disney Cruise Line tradition of bringing Broadway-style stage shows across the globe in a grand entertainment venue fit for original Disney musicals," Disney Parks Blog reported. "However, before the curtain rises and performers dazzle future Disney Cruise Line guests, Disney Imagineers and crew at Meyer Werft shipyard must weld what will someday become The Walt Disney Theatre to the Disney Treasure. It's exciting that this space will soon be filled with Disney tunes and the heartwarming stories of favorite Disney adventurers!"
The Disney Treasure will take inspiration from "classic ocean liners of the early 20th century with a modern flair" and set sail in 2024. It is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
