Another beloved Hollywood marriage has gone down the drain! After seven years of marriage, Sofia Vergaraand Joe Manganielloare going their separate ways.
Although the couple's chemistry was one made of fairytales, fans recently noticed that things were off between the duo after taking some social media hints. Now, the cat is out of the bag!
Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello Still Love Each Other Despite Separation
After weeks of keeping fans guessing about the state of their marriage, Vergara and Manganiello confirmed they are no longer together via a joint statement that read:
"We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."
Like most Hollywood couples, the pair didn't share the reason for the split or give more details about how long they have been separated. However, sources close to the duo shared with Page Six, "Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future."
The details of their divorce are yet to be public, but since the couple has no children, there will be no custody battles or child support issues. It is also possible that given their career success before coming together as a unit, the pair would have an ironclad prenuptial agreement.
Per reports, the now-former lovebirds were last seen in public together in June when the "Modern Family" star visited Manganiello on the set of his new project "Nonnas" with Vince Vaughn. Although it seems the pair were a match made in heaven thanks to their jaw-dropping physiques, Vergara might have predicted the doom of their romance from the start.
In a 2016 appearance on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show," the Latina beauty spoke about having fears about going into a relationship with the "Magic Mike" star because he was "too handsome." She explained that she was careful about dating someone with such handsome features because it felt like "too much work."
In her words, "I didn’t want to go into a relationship with somebody that … I thought he was going to be too much work because girls were throwing themselves at him. I’m like, ‘Ay! No! Please, I want somebody normal." In fact, she recalled situations where women have thrown themselves at the Pittsburgh native in her presence. "Girls don’t care," she stated at the time. "I mean, have you seen him? I mean, I understand. I don’t judge them."
Despite her hesitation, Vergara, who was introduced to the 46-year-old "True Blood" star by her "Modern Family" co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, walked down the aisle with Mangiello in November 2015 in a lavish star-studded wedding in Palm Beach Florida.
The 'Modern Family' Star Hinted At Split During 51st Birthday
The news of an impending divorce doesn't come as a shock to close fans and observers of Vergara and Manganiello's romance. Days ago when the Colombia native marked her 51st birthday, eagle-eyed fans noticed something was very off.
First, Vergara marked the milestone in Italy surrounded by friends with her husband of seven years nowhere in sight. On her big day, the "America’s Got Talent" judge shared a video of herself at a restaurant getting serenaded by a local band and friends.
In no time, fans camped underneath her post, asking questions about Manganiello's whereabouts. A fan wrote, "But where is hubby? Not in a picture anywhere. And they put their house up for sale." Another joked, "Where’s Joe? Holding the dog? Lol."
Things were further exacerbated when the "Spider-Man" actor's tribute to his partner was interpreted as cold. Taking to his Instagram page, the "Magic Mike’s Last Dance" actor shared two images for the occasion. The first was a throwback shot of the couple, a poor-quality picture with a grainy and blurry texture. The next slide was even more confusing as it featured a crystal ornament with lights.
"Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!" he captioned the post in Spanish, with the English translation reading: "Happy Birthday, Sofia."
The indifference in the tribute caught fans' attention as they began to speculate there was trouble in paradise. "Joe, I hope you guys are ok; that was a very different(cold) happy birthday wish to your wife compared to previous ones," a social media user pointed out. Another echoed similar thoughts, writing: "Am I the only one who doesn’t like the way it sounds? ‘Sofia’…. not even ‘My love, My beloved wife.'"
A third agreed with his bland wishes and called out the Hollywood heartthrob with the comment: "What a cold greeting. Not a drop of love expressed Joe Manganiello."
Since her birthday celebration, Vergara has been giving off single vibes — going as far as being seen dancing to Gloria Gaynor's breakup anthem, "I Will Survive."
