Is Stephen Curry even a real person?!
That was probably the question on everyone's lips after footage of him getting a hole-in-one in a major golf tournament surfaced on social media over the weekend. The professional basketball player's participation in β and winning of β the American Century Championship celebrity tournament comes a month after he wore a supportive badge in honor of his wife, Ayesha Curry's cooking skills.
Stephen Curry Sparked Celebration After Hitting A Hole-In-One During A Celebrity Tournament
On Saturday, July 15th, Curry stole the spotlight as he skillfully aimed his shot at the 152-yard par-three seventh hole at Edgewood Tahoe. With an exuberant display of excitement, he swiftly removed his hat, raised a finger triumphantly, and dashed towards the hole, enthusiastically striking the flag, reminiscent of a runner crossing the finish line.
Once there he ran around in circles as the crowd cheered him on from the stands and one excited witness yelled, "way to go, Steph!" The victorious moment where the 35-year-old finished with 75 points β two ahead of runner-up Mardy Fish, a former professional tennis player who won the tournament in 2020 β was captured in a now-viral video uploaded to Twitter.
"Dawg Steph just shot a hole-in-one LMAOOOOO. He might not be a real person," the Twitter user captioned the clip, which has gotten over 26 million views. It quickly got fans swooning over the mini-god that is Curry, as one person tweeted, "hottest thing ever," and another disclosed, "I'm amazed every time I see this video, do you know how ridiculous this is?? π."
"I knew Steph Curry wasn't human. Very rare to see me stan mortals," a third fan claimed. A fourth Twitter user added, "bro is mastering sports likes his collecting infinity stonesπ," and a fifth declared, "Steph Curry is not human."
A sixth netizen replied, "This is beyond insane π€―," and a seventh reiterated, "Y'all still believing he's real? Oh! Not the matrix again." An eighth fan lengthily effused, "Steph Curry would be the Steph Curry of darts, billiards, beer pong, cornhole, etc. You name it. Anything where you gotta aim and hit something. Steph would be the Steph at that sport."
Meanwhile, The Guardian reported that the four-time NBA Champion opened up about the moment saying, "That was wild. It was good contact, right at the stick, but even if you're painting the flag and it looks good, you never really expect it to go in. I just saw a bunch of hands go up, and then you just kind of black out."
Curry made history as the first Black person to win the tournament in its 34-year run. This remarkable achievement places him the fifth active athlete to claim victory, with the last being Al del Greco, the then-Tennessee Titans kicker, in 2000.

The Two-Time NBA Most Valuable Player Took It Personally When Ayesha's Cooking Skills Were Challenged
When critics began speculating about Ayesha's cooking skills, Steph made a fashion choice in her honor. The Blast noted that the point guard wore a shirt that had the words "Ayesha Curry Can Cook" to the press conference of the Warriors vs. Boston Celtics game conference last month.
Via Twitter footage, the dad-of-three told reporters to "ask around the room and ask Twitter,"when he was asked why he chose that particular shirt. The interaction expectedly grabbed the attention of many fans who aired their thoughts in the replies and quotes of the tweet.
While one person virtually gasped, "So he did see it," another commented that Steph could "see and hear everything." The conversation had sprung from a viral content showing the signs that a Boston sports bar, called Game On! placed outside their shop, with one reading, "Ayesha Curry Can't Cook" and another taunting, "Duece Tatum > Riley Curry" β the establishment's way of comparing Jayson Tatum, the Celtics player's son to Steph's first daughter.
Both signs were highlighted in a tweet shared by NBC sports reporter Dalton Johnson, asking Boston to "stay classy." "Say what you want about the players, but please leave the families, especially kids out of it," one observer wrote in response, as another quipped, "Not being able to spell a child's name >>>."
