"Today marks one year alcohol-free for me," she wrote. "A number of things made me come to the conclusion that I didn't want to drink."
She continued, "First and foremost, I didn't feel it had a place where I personally wanted to be. I listened to my heart and the message was clear to me. I knew it was no longer serving me (no pun intended) physically, mentally, or spiritually. I never put a time frame on when I would drink again or say IF I ever would."
Richards went on to share how she feels "more clear mentally" and doesn't have "anxiety" about alcohol again. She noted that she was met with some "resistance" but wasn't one to succumb to "peer pressure."
'You Will Inspire Many By This'
Richard's post followed an outpouring of love and encouragement from her fans, showcasing the strong bond between the reality star and her dedicated followers.
A fan wrote, "You will inspire many by this. Proud of you. The sober revolution has started. I am 3 years in October. Our kids will thank us and our bodies [of] course. But for now, I thank you."

Kyle Richards Is Reportedly 'Separated' From Her Husband
In a surprising turn of events, Richards and her husband, Mauricio Umansky, have reportedly separated after being married for 27 years, per People magazine.
"Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof. They remain amicable as they figure out what's next for them and their family," a source close to the couple told the news outlet.
The couple recently took to their respective Instagram account to share a joint statement about the news of their separation.
"In regards to the news that came out about us today... Any claims regarding divorcing are untrue," the statement read. "However, yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously."
"There has been no wrongdoing on anyone's part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately. While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative," the statement continued.
Richards and Umansky first met in 1994 before tying the knot in 1996. They share three children: daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15.
