Guests were in for a shock when riding the iconic Carousel of Progress attraction in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World recently.
As Disney World riders were enjoying the classic attraction, they soon noticed a furry friend who should not have been involved in the show.
Squirrel Jumps On Carousel Of Progress Stage
On a recent visit to Carousel of Progress, Disney World Guests noticed a squirrel running across the stage and interrupting the show.
The squirrel made an unexpected appearance during the. 1940s Halloween show scene, and, according to WDWNT, when when John, the main character of the show, said it was “time to move on,” the squirrel immediately ran across the stage towards the next scene. Eventually, the squirrel jumped off the stage and out of sight.

Fans had a field day with the video as many replied to WDWNT's Tweet, saying things such as "Most realistic animatronic I've ever seen. Maybe WDI hasn't lost their fastball after all" and "Squirrel probably went onto Carousel of Progress for the same reason why the guests did -- to get a break from the heat and it in the A/C for a bit."
It is not uncommon for Guests to spot wildlife throughout Walt Disney World, especially squirrels and birds around dining locations as they often look for scraps of food, but it is rare that a furry friend is able to get inside a ride or attraction. Luckily, it seems no one was injured and the squirrel minded his own business.
Disney's Carousel Of Progress
Walt Disney and WED Enterprises teamed up and created what is now the longest-running stage show in American theater history.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress was originally created as the prime feature of the General Electric Pavilion for the 1964 New York World’s Fair, but is now located in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Presented inside a revolving theater, Disney's Carousel of Progress takes Guests through four generations of progress and technology with an American family. Per Disney:
Follow an American family over 4 generations of progress and watch technology transform their lives.
During each era, learn how the technological marvels of the day made life more comfortable—and paved the way for unimaginable innovations.
Discover how gas lamps, the hand-cranked washing machine and gramophone made the pre-electric era a breeze.
Watch the advent of electricity give rise to modern conveniences like the electric iron, the radio—and the simple, revolutionary light bulb.
See how the automatic dishwasher and television set transformed the American household.
Today's high-tech marvels include virtual-reality games, high-definition televisions and voice-activated household appliances. Imagine the wonders the next hundred years may bring!
The ride was first invented and presented at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair, and in 1975, moved to Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort. Disney World reports, "Walt Disney originally conceived the show as part of a new area at Disneyland Park called Edison Square. When the concept was abandoned, the idea was reimagined, eventually opening under the name “Progressland” at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair."
