Morgan Freeman Misses A Trip Due To An Illness
Morgan Freeman recently canceled his press trip to the U.K. after catching what doctors called a "contagious infection." The 86-year-old Hollywood legend was meant to attend press rounds for his new show, "Special Ops: Lioness." However, he initially caught a fever, which worsened into an infection.
A rep for the actor spoke to the Daily Mail and confirmed the news of his health emergency. They said, "Morgan has a fever and his doctor felt he had a contagious infection, so he canceled his trip. He is fine now."
Freeman's co-stars, Zoe Saldana, and Nicole Kidman, continued with the U.K. trip without him. The two actresses were at a recent screening of the show by Paramount+ and had an interview on "The One Show." During their interview, host Alex Jones commented on Freeman's absence and said she was "gutted" about it.
Morgan Freeman Struggled With A Pain Condition Too
Freeman has famously battled with fibromyalgia for years. It's a condition that causes fatigue and severe pain all over the body, and there's no straight cure, only treatments. The "Million Dollar Baby" actor developed the condition after being involved in a terrible car crash in 2008.
After the accident, Freeman also suffered a paralyzed left hand, which forced him to wear a compression glove for years. During a 2012 interview with Esquire Magazine, host Tom Chiarella spoke about the damage to the actor's hand.
He said, per The Sun, "It hurts when he walks, when he sits still, when he rises from his couch, and when he missteps in a damp meadow. More than hurts. It seems a kind of agony, though he never mentions it. Despite surgery to repair nerve damage, he was stuck with a useless left hand."
Chiarella further said, "It is stiffly gripped by a compression glove most of the time to ensure that blood doesn't pool there. It is a clamp, his pain, an icy shot up a relatively useless limb."
His New Show 'Special Ops: Lioness' Is A Spy Thriller
Freeman's new show, "Special Ops: Lioness," is a spy thriller that's based on a real CIA program. It follows the experiences of a marine trying to balance her personal and professional life as a CIA operative fighting against terrorism for the agency.
The new series was written by Taylor Sheridan, who's famous for his Western stories. It was executively produced by both Saldana and Kidman and made for Paramount+ by 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios. Freeman plays the role of Edwin Mullins, the Secretary of State for the United States.
Zoe Saldana & Nicole Kidman In 'Special Ops: Lioness'
In the new series, Saldana plays the role of a station chief running The Lioness Program for the CIA. Her character, Joe, must train and lead a team of female undercover operatives who fight terror on behalf of the agency.

The series also features Bassem Youssef as a billionaire businessman who profited off the multiple wars that ruined the Middle East.
The series stars other actors like Laysla De Oliveira, James Jordan, Dave Annable, Stephanie Nur, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, and Austin HĂ©bert. The highly-anticipated spy thriller premieres its first two episodes on Paramount+ on July 23rd.
