Former U.S. President Donald Trump seems to be hopeful about his chances to take back the White House, or at least secure the 2024 Republican nomination on the ticket.
The former POTUS took to his Truth Social platform on Monday to share a few polls showing that he is leading in the 2024 Republican nomination race.
Donald Trump Comes Out Ahead On July Poll For 2024 Republican Presidential Nominee
Although there are quite a few contenders as to who will be the next Republican nominee for President of the United States, there is at least one poll that has Trump's name at the top of the list. According to a July poll asking, "Who would you rather see as the Republican nominee for President in 2024?" Trump's name was at the top of the list with 77% of the vote.
52,605 individuals on Twitter cast their votes, leaving Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with only 18% of the vote and 5% voting for another candidate. Believe it or not, that was not the only poll that showed Trump coming out on top in the race to become the next Republican nominee for President.
Trump Has Plenty Of Supporters Ahead Of The 2024 Presidential Election
Another poll showed that Trump was leading with 56% for the 2024 National Republican primary. DeSantis only had 17%, while Rawaswamy had 8%, Pence had 7%, Haley had 3%, Scott had 3%, and Christie had 3%. It seems doubtful that Mike Pence, Trump's former Vice President, will be able to score the Republican nomination.
However, Pence has been pretty vocal ahead of his campaign. He recently criticized both Trump and DeSantis for not understanding the importance of aiding Ukraine in their ongoing war against Russia.
Mike Pence Says Trump and DeSantis ‘Just Don’t Understand’ The Ukraine War
Earlier this month, Mike Pence told the Associated Press that Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis “just don’t understand” the importance of supporting Ukraine.
“With all due respect, I think the former president and the governor of Florida just don’t understand Americans’ national interest in supporting the Ukrainian military in repelling the Russian military in Ukraine,” Pence said during an interview before a campaign event in Sioux City.
Pence visited Ukraine in the last week of June. He noted, “Make no mistake, China is watching.” DeSantis has previously said that “becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of” the United States’ vital national interests. Donald Trump expressed similar sentiments.
