On Tuesday morning, People magazine revealed the title and release date of Britney's highly-anticipated memoir. Although it has faced production delays and legal setbacks, her memoir, titled, "The Woman In Me," will be released on October 24. After a lengthy bidding war, Gallery Books, an imprint of the publishing giant Simon & Schuster, acquired the rights to distribution.

Jennifer Bergstrom, Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher, released a statement, saying, “Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery." Bergstrom went on to say, “I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.”

The highly anticipated memoir is expected to cover the conservatorship from Britney's perspective. Britney was subjected to a conservatorship for over 13 years, lasting from February 2008 to November 21. The conservatorship gave her father, Jamie Spears, a large amount of control over personal and financial matters during this time. Although the singer has been vocal on social media about the alleged abuse she suffered during this time, this is the first time that Britney will be giving her full account of what transpired.

According to a press release from Gallery Books, the memoir promises to tell “for the first time her incredible journey (and) strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history," adding that the memoir “illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.”

The press release goes on to call Britney's memoir “a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope."

“Britney’s book is a story of triumph. It will cover her most vulnerable moments, her childhood – being a little girl with big dreams – her break-up with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship,” one insider divulged. “It is also a story of survival, finding her way out of the crippling conservatorship to finding happiness with her husband Sam Ashgari.”

The book was written by Britney along with ghostwriter Sam Lansky, who has previously written for Time, New York Magazine, and more. Lansky has also profiled Hollywood stars like Madonna and Adele.
