Amanda Bynes Checks Out Of Mental Facility
The "What A Girl Wants" actress is finally out of the mental facility she was confined to nearly two weeks ago following a distress call from an unknown woman, which was later confirmed to be her.
According to TMZ, sources revealed that Bynes left the treatment center on Friday with the backing of her medical team, who believe she has taken the proper steps toward being able to live on her own again.
Due to the nature of her mental health, a plan has also reportedly been put in place to ensure that Bynes can stay on track with her medication so she can have a proper recovery.
Per the news outlet, Bynes' plan includes her receiving daily visitations from a medical professional who would make sure she's being consistent with the recovery plan.
Amanda Bynes' Psychiatric Hold Was Extended By A Week
The former child star received a one-week extension of her psychiatric hold after her family members expressed concern for her safety. Although she had completed her mandatory 72 hours, doctors added an extra week to ensure she was okay for release.
Bynes' latest "cycle of repeated breakdowns" made her friends and family concerned for her well-being. They told TMZ that the troubled star begins to spiral once she stops using her drugs but is fine when she's on her medication.
According to the news outlet, sources revealed that during Bynes' conservatorship, she was mandated to take drugs as her mother Lynn was responsible for her. However, now that she is legally free, Bynes has been responsible for taking her medication.
She Was Previously Placed On A Psychiatric Hold
Back in March, Bynes' mental health and well-being made headlines when she reportedly called the police on herself after coming down from a psychotic episode.
The former Nickelodeon star was seen walking the streets of Los Angeles naked before flagging down a cab that drove her to a police station, where she was given a medical evaluation.
After running their tests, the mental health team concluded that Bynes needed to be placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. The "She's The Man" star was fortunately unhurt despite her vulnerable state.
Following her hospitalization, sources for The Blast shared that Bynes had lost weight and abused drugs. They revealed that the actress had undergone a "startling and dramatic weight loss over the last few months." Bynes allegedly weighed less than 100 pounds.
She eventually left the facility after working to ensure she was ready to return to her everyday life and activities.
An insider for the Daily Mail said at the time, "Amanda has left the medical facility on her own recognizance." The source added, "She was very cooperative, participated in her recovery the staff supported her decision to leave as she had successfully completed the treatment program."
Amanda Bynes Advised To Stay Away From Her Ex-Fiancé
Bynes had been in a relationship with Paul Michael which eventually led to a short-lived engagement. Per the Daily Mail, the former child star has been advised to keep her distance from Michael because "her family and friends believe that her split was a catalyst in her breakdown and that he is not a healthy and safe person for her to be around."
The source also noted that the ex-couple "were codependent on each other, and the latter part of their relationship was toxic due, in part, to the fact that they met in rehab. They substituted their addiction to substances for an addiction for each other."
In a chat with TMZ, Michael alleged that he and Bynes broke up just two days before her mental breakdown happened in March. He also claimed that they had gotten into a fight two weeks before she was seen walking nude on the streets of Los Angeles and that Bynes told him she "didn't care about him anymore."
He told the news outlet that reports of her breakdown blindsided him as she "seemed stable" and was focusing on becoming a nail tech.
