Jamie Foxx Is 'Working Hard To Recover'
Per People magazine, Foxx is still on the road to recovery following his major health crisis in April while he was in Atlanta filming Netflix's "Back In Action."
A source recently told the publication that the actor is "still not himself" despite weeks of recuperation in a private facility in Chicago, where he was moved after weeks in an Atlanta hospital.
However, the insider did confirm that the actor is getting the "best care and working hard to recover right now" and that he has "the tightest circle around him."
Since Foxx suffered the medical complication, it is still unclear what exactly went wrong, as the Oscar winner's family has preferred to keep things under wraps for undisclosed reasons.
He has also been off social media all this time, only making a brief comeback in April to thank fans and other well-wishers for their prayers and another in June to announce the debut of his film "They Cloned Tyrone."
Jamie Foxx Has Spoken With A Few People
Amid the uncertainty about his actual condition, Foxx has been in communication with a few people, one of whom is his "They Cloned Tyrone" co-star, John Boyega.
The British actor told People at the film's Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday that he recently had a phone call with Foxx and could confirm that he is "doing well."
"I gave him the well wishes directly," Boyega told the publication. "I gave him all the well wishes. So I'm just gonna be waiting until he comes back out here. So take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro."
In addition to Boyega, Datari Turner, Foxx's co-producer on the science fiction comedy, mentioned that the actor has also been in touch with the film's director Juel Taylor.
"He's doing amazing. I promise you. Doing really, really good," he said. "Juel talked to him yesterday…. He's in really, really good shape and spirits. And he'll be back on the screen. He'll be back to work very soon."
More Movies From The Actor Have Debuted In His Absence
Apart from "They Cloned Tyrone," Foxx also has another film of his that has debuted on the silver screen in his absence.
Dubbed "God Is a Bullet," the action thriller, which is inspired by Bob Terran's eponymous novel, is directed by Nick Cassavetes and portrays Foxx as The Ferryman.
"When detective Bob Hightower (Coster-Waldau) finds his ex-wife murdered and daughter kidnapped by a satanic cult, he quits the police force, gets tattoos, and infiltrates the cult to hunt down the charismatic cult leader, Cyrus, with the help of the cult's only female escapee, Case Hardin (Monroe)," a synopsis of the movie read, per People.
On August 18, the R-rated comedy "Strays" will also debut in cinemas, in which Foxx voices a dog named Bug who is on a mission with other canines to enact revenge on an animal-hating drug addict.
Jamie Foxx Was Hospitalized In April
News about Foxx's condition went viral following an Instagram post from his daughter Corinne on April 11 that revealed he had suffered a medical complication.
"We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday," she wrote before noting that he is "already on his way to recovery."
Several weeks later, she shared in a since-deleted post on Instagram that the actor was "recuperating" and clarified that there was no damage to his physical abilities, contrary to rumors that had swirled online.
"Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone's prayers and support," Corinne posted, per The Blast.
