Kevin Costner's Estranged Wife, Christine Baumgartner, Demands Financial Assurance
Christine Baumgartner, Kevin Costner's estranged wife, has expressed her willingness to depart from their luxurious mansion, but she has one condition: she wants assurances that her soon-to-be ex-husband won't leave her financially destitute.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline, the 49-year-old handbag designer, who reportedly caught Costner off guard when she served him with divorce papers, has agreed to vacate the $145 million mansion on the condition that Costner, 68, agrees to comply with any support and fee orders determined by the court during the upcoming hearing on July 12.
In the filings, Baumgartner has consented to leave the premises by August 31 of this year, giving her 50 days to find a new place to live and settle in. This timeframe exceeds the original stipulation in their prenuptial agreement, which required her to leave within 30 days of the divorce filing on May 1.
Christine Baumgartner Wants To Maintain 'Stability' For Her Children
Amid the divorce proceedings, Baumgartner expressed her concerns about leaving their shared home without a solid financial plan. She believes it would be unfair to their children, Cayden Wyatt, 14, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 13, to endure multiple relocations.
In the court filing, the mom of three explains that Costner expects her to "rent [a] place without [a] financial plan in place. However, [I] have our three children to think about. It is contrary to their best interests to commit to a rental that [I] may not be able to afford, particularly as that would ultimately lead to multiple relocations."
She continued, "My goal has been and continues to be maintaining as much stability for our children as possible, which includes having the proper resources and plan in place so that [I] can establish [a] stable home for them, rather than making temporary and inconsistent housing arrangements."
As the primary earner, Costner's income has been the sole financial source for the family, while Baumgartner states that she currently has no income of her own.
Kevin Costner Reportedly Paid Christine Baumgartner $1 million To Move Out
According to the publication, Costner has deposited $1 million into Baumgartner's bank account to motivate her to move out. This sum is in addition to the $200,000 he had already provided earlier in their marriage, per their prenuptial agreement's terms.
However, Baumgartner has allegedly decided not to utilize the funds, as she believes doing so might compromise her ability to contest the validity of their prenuptial agreement.
Baumgartner also mentioned that when Costner was present in the mansion, they experienced no conflicts. She points out that the spaciousness and separation of living areas within the residence allow them to coexist without significant interaction.
TMZ obtained documents revealing that Costner is willing to fulfill his child support obligations by contributing $30,000 monthly towards a rental house for Baumgartner. Additionally, he has offered an additional $10,000 to cover her moving expenses.
Christine Baumgartner And Kevin Costner Seek Joint Custody
Last month, Baumgartner initiated the divorce process by filing for divorce from Costner, ending their 18-year-long marriage. She cited "irreconcilable differences."
In her divorce filing, Baumgartner expressed her desire for joint custody of their three children. Notably, she did not request spousal support from Costner. Costner swiftly responded to Baumgartner's petition the following day, expressing his commitment to shared parenting and seeking joint custody of their children.
A rep for Costner spoke to TMZ then, saying, "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired, resulting in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine's, and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time."
