Lawrence stated, "Not true. Total rumor. We all know we only kissed one time, and it was years after they broke up, so I just assumed that was a coincidence." She continued, "Liam and I grew up together. Liam's real hot. What would you have done?"

The rumors initially surfaced between 2012 and 2015, when Hemsworth and Lawrence shared a close friendship and worked together on "The Hunger Games" franchise as lovers Katniss Everdeen and Gale Hawthorne.

Following the actor's separation from the "Flowers" singer, his on-again-off-again girlfriend at the time, Lawrence and Hemsworth's on-screen chemistry fueled speculations of romantic involvement.

Cyrus released the video to her "Flowers" song on Hemsworth's birthday, with lyrics referencing the actor and the Miami wildfire that destroyed their home. According to fan theory, Cyrus's dress in the video resembled Lawrence's gold Prabal Gurung gown when she attended the premiere of "The Hunger Games" alongside Hemsworth.
