Arendelle: World of Frozen is set to open up its gates later this year at Hong Kong Disneyland, allowing Guests to see fan-favorite characters from the film and ride “Frozen”-themed attractions.
Now that Disney is inching closer to an opening date, the company is sharing new concept art, showing fans just what they can expect from the new rides located within the land.
Frozen Ever After Ride
World of Frozen is Hong Kong Disneyland’s largest expansion and it will be the world’s first “Frozen”-themed land. Guests can expect to experience Frozen Ever After, a sister attraction to the current EPCOT version, which is described as, "Find a seat aboard your boat and let the lapping waters take you through a frozen willow forest. Soon, you’ll be rubbing shoulders with some “boulders”—a.k.a. Kristoff’s family from Troll Valley—before bracing for the cold. High up in the icy blue world of the North Mountain, Elsa’s enchanting ice palace awaits. Behold the wonder… and keep an eye out for Anna, Olaf, and a few more Frozen friends."
The concept art shows Guests riding in a boat as they pass by Olaf and Sven.
“The entire themed land is a recreation of the kingdom of Arendelle drawing upon the natural landscape of Lantau Mountain behind Hong Kong Disneyland as a backdrop,” Disney shared. “In creating World of Frozen, we have the vision of making this land a living and authentic Arendelle where guests can step into the cinematic scenes from the ‘Frozen’ movies. We recreated iconic landmarks of Arendelle that will instantly resonate with the fans of ‘Frozen’ and all guests alike.”
The gates to World of Frozen will open in the second half of 2023. An exact date has yet to be released.
Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs
Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs roller coaster will be a new ride that will take Guests on a journey through Arendelle after they pay a visit to Oaken’s famous store.
Disney Parks recently shared a video of Cast Members experiencing the soon-to-be attraction as it began testing. “It’s a wonderful addition to Hong Kong Disneyland,” one Cast Member said after riding the ride,” It’s really going to bring this whole land to life.”
“Hoo hoo. Imagineers and cast had the opportunity to be among the first to give Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs at #WorldOfFrozen a try!,” Disney Parks wrote alongside the video. “Soon you will be able to embark on a scenic ride designed and built by Wandering Oaken himself at @HKDisneyland.”
“Powered by his buddies Olaf and Sven, they’re working together to pull the sleighs to the top of the lift hill. We just can’t wait to get on this ride when the gates finally open in the second half of 2023!” they continued to write.
Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed earlier this week that the new “Frozen”-themed land is set to open in the second half of 2023 at Hong Kong Disneyland. A second “Frozen”-themed land is also under construction at Disneyland Paris, which is expected to open sometime next year, or later.
