Renowned filmmaker and deep-sea explorer James Cameron recently spoke out about the Titan submersible that went to view the remains of the Titanic, revealing that he had an eerie premonition of its demise.

Known for his passion for ocean exploration and his pivotal role in bringing the iconic story of the Titanic to life on the big screen, Cameron drew an "uncanny parallel" between the real Titanic tragedy and the ill-fated submersible.

In a candid interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, Cameron shared that he was convinced "in my bones" as early as "Monday morning" that the missing Titan submersible had imploded, per Insider.

The Titan submersible, a cutting-edge deep-sea exploration vessel owned by OceanGate, disappeared under mysterious circumstances during a recent dive to view the remains of the Titanic.

Cameron, who has personally piloted submersibles and set numerous diving records, said that when he received "confirmation that there was some kind of loud noise consistent with an implosion event," he let his "inner circle of people know that we had lost our comrades" and "encouraged everybody to raise a glass."

"The only scenario that I could come up with in my mind that could account for that was an implosion," the "Avatar" director told Cooper.

"A shock wave event so powerful that it actually took out a secondary system that has its own pressure vessel and its own battery power supply, which is the transponder that the ship uses to track where the sub is. So I was thinking of implosion then. That's Monday morning," Cameron stated.

After the disappearance of the submersible from the radar, new details emerged surrounding the ill-fated marine vehicle following a frantic search by the U.S. Coast Guard and other marine parastatals.

It was confirmed on June 22nd that the Titan Submersible imploded, adding a chilling dimension to the mysterious event. According to E! News, the remains from the submersible had been found and were "consistent with the catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber."

"This is an incredibly unforgiving environment down there on the sea floor. The debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel," District commander Rear Adm. John Mauger of the First Coast Guard earlier said in a press conference.

In his conversation with Cooper, Cameron expressed his lack of surprise at the outcome of the incident following the frantic search that aimed to seek answers to the whereabouts of the submersible.

When sharing his reaction to the final verdict on the missing Titan Submersible, Cameron responded with a calm demeanor. "I watched over the ensuing days this whole sort of everybody running around with their hair on fire search, knowing full well that it was futile – hoping against hope that I was wrong but knowing in my bones that I wasn't," he said.

Cameron added, "I just feel terrible for the families that had to go through all of these false hopes that kept getting dangled, you know, as it played out."

In a recent interview with ABC News, the renowned filmmaker drew a striking similarity between the real-life Titanic disaster and the mysterious disappearance of the Titan Submersible.

"I'm struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field on a moonless night—and many people died as a result," he told the news outlet.

Cameron also explained that the deep-sea diving community "were very concerned" about OceanGate's expeditions and the ill-fated Titan Submersible.

"For a very similar tragedy, where warnings went unheeded, to take place at the same exact site with all the diving that's going on all around the world, I think it's just astonishing. It's really quite surreal," he added.
