Country Music Star Orville Peck Postpones Tour For 'Mental And Physical Health'

Country musician Orville Peck has postponed his upcoming shows to prioritize his mental and physical well-being. The decision was shared through an Instagram post.

Peck, who wears a fringed mask and keeps his identity hidden, has previously opened up about his experience as an openly gay artist in the music industry.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday, singer Orville Peck, born Daniel Pitout, shared a personal update with his loyal following of approximately 602,000 fans. He announced the difficult decision to postpone all remaining shows on his tour to prioritize his mental and physical well-being.

Expressing his sadness, Peck wrote, "I am completely heartbroken as I share this news, but I have made the incredibly difficult decision to postpone all of my upcoming shows effective immediately. This was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but I've come to realize that my current mental and physical health won't allow me to bring you my best."

The 35-year-old singer continued, "My fans mean the absolute world to me and I am so incredibly thankful to every single person who has bought a ticket to come and see us play, I do not take it for granted. Being on stage is my favorite thing in the world."

Peck emphasized the necessity of taking time off to restore his mind and body, adding, "But I have to take this time to replenish my mind and body so that I can come back stronger and healthier than before, to do what I love for many years to come. I truly hope you can understand."

Peck kicked off his highly anticipated 11-date tour in grand fashion on Tuesday, treating his fans to a mesmerizing sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The now postponed tour was scheduled to continue across the US Midwest, concluding on August 10th in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

"Chicago P.D" alum Sophia Bush Huges commented on Peck's Instagram post, showing her support for his decision. She wrote, "What a way to lead by example. Rest. Refuel. Go gently."

Comedian and actor Joel McHale also shared his encouragement, writing, "Hang in there. Take care of yourself. Take your time and we're all looking forward to when you want to come back and when you do—-it'll be a barn-burner."

"RuPaul's Drag Race" star BenDeLaCreme added, "Thank you for all that you share with us AND for showing your fans that taking care of yourself is strong, noble, and ESSENTIAL."

Peck's journey in the music industry as a gay man has been marked by resilience and determination, despite his challenges. In an April interview with People magazine, Peck candidly discussed the obstacles he encountered at the start of his career.

Reflecting on those early days, Peck shared, "A lot of people [were] practically laughing in my face, telling me that being an openly gay man in the country would never work. I've [had] very discouraging moments in my career."

Instead of allowing negativity to define his trajectory, Peck maintained his self-belief and unwavering determination. He said, "But I kept my chin up, and I refused to let anybody tell me that I couldn't do what I wanted. If someone tells me I can't do something, it makes me want to do it even more."

Over the years, Peck has captivated audiences with his distinctive fringed mask, maintaining an air of mystery by never revealing his face to the public.
