Over the weekend, Netflix premiered the first teaser for the thriller's upcoming fifth and final season at their global annual event, Tudum, hinting at the return of Ortega's character Ellie Alves. The insinuation comes amid fans' continuous requests for the streaming platform and the showrunner, Sera Gamble, to get their favorite character back into rotation.

'You' Lovers Might Get A Second Chance To See Jenna Ortega In The Hit Netflix Series

Over the last four years, viewers have seen Joe Goldberg [played by Penn Badgley] get stuck in his old, psychopath ways, with his past always coming back to haunt him. And with his story getting wrapped up in the fifth season, it makes sense that he will come full circle and return to his New York City hometown.

Despite that intriguing premise, Netflix is keeping the names of those he would cross paths with upon his return to the Big Apple close to their chest. To that end, Badgley did not say much when addressing the crowd on Saturday.

"I've heard you're on the edge of your seats waiting and theorizing about the epic conclusion to 'You.' More importantly, you're considering what, or should I say, who Joe will come up against as he finally returns to New York," the 36-year-old began.

He then stated that even though he could not "say who just yet," the audience knew the "many loose ends from Joe's past. The question is, 'Who are you?'"

The clip then flashed through the many faces viewers have encountered in the show's previous seasons, including Ortega's Ellie, whose sister died due to her meeting Joe in the second season. It also showed John Stamos's Dr. Nicky, the therapist who Joe successfully framed for the murder of Guinevere Beck [played by Elizabeth Lail].

The preview instantly piqued fans' interest, and many began dropping their thoughts and conspiracies. One person claimed, "They will find a way to bring Jenna back for sure," and another queried, "What if Ellie was the one that would take Joe out? Man I'd love to see that happening."

"Hope its Paco, Jenna Ortagga, the Quinnes and the others Joe screwd over coming after him," a third avid watcher shared, as a fourth pleaded, "Please bring jenna ortega back. She was so good in season 2."A fifth exclaimed, "I BET IT'S ELLIE COMING BACK OR PACO!!!" and a sixth simply declared, "We all know Jenna is winning the show."

It is worth noting that fans are not the only ones anticipating Ortega's second act on the show, as The Blast previously reported that showrunner Gamble also wanted the same.

She had disclosed during an interview that the execs "wanted to bring Ellie back," but they could not because they heard that the "Scream" actress was "doing some show.'" Gamble then expressed that she would love to have the 20-year-old brunette back on set, especially since her presence delighted the cast and crew.

'Wednesday' Influenced The MTV Movie & TV Award Recipient's Fashion Sense

Although Ortega has been an onscreen star since childhood, the most significant change in her appearance occurred when she starred as Wednesday Addams on Netflix's eponymous show. Since then, her style has leaned toward goth clothing, which was what her character predominantly wore in the comedy horror.

Speaking on the upgrade in her wardrobe in April, the "Stuck in the Middle" star expressed, "I've always respected goth culture. I've always had a darker sense of humor, but I never felt like I was able to express that. Now I feel like I can embrace those qualities in myself."

The actress even got the courage to chop off her long hair, which she was "really, really attached to" before she partook in the series. In fact, starring in the show has made her "more adventurous; to experiment and be more creative in that way."

Ortega's new style was in full swing when she attended the 2023 SAG Awards in a black Versace dress that featured a plunging neckline that showcased her cleavage, a flowing skirt, and a thigh-high slit. She complemented the outfit with a necklace, silver rings, black platform heels, and a face beat emphasizing her natural, goth beauty.
