Sarah Jessica Parker Says Kim Cattrall's Return Is 'Fun And Exciting'
Parker finally broke her silence over the news of her "Sex and the City" co-star, Cattrall, appearing in the show's sequel, "And Just Like That."
In comments published by the Daily Mail, Parker called Cattrall's return "really fun and exciting."
She said, "We've been thoughtful about how we've, you know, approached characters that hadn't been around, the ways we have invited actors back, and it's been, you know, enjoyable and exciting and certainly nostalgic, but I think more than that, it's been a lot of joy."
Although fans are very excited about Cattrall's return, actress Kristin Davies seemingly shut down any hopes for a reunion between the core cast members from the show.
Kristin Davies Shoots Down Hopes For A Reunion
According to the Daily Mail, Davies noted that Cattrall's cameo doesn't mean there has been a "resolution" to the long-standing feud between the actresses.
She said, "We just thought that it would be fun for the fans to have a little bit of Samantha because we know that they miss her, and she's a great character."
"I don't know if we're even trying for closure or resolution. I think we just thought, here is, you know, our character who's been gone. And we know people miss her, and Carrie misses her..."
Davies continued, "And wouldn't this be great to have a little bit of her, you know, that's what we wanted. And then I think hopes have been lifted, possibly higher than that. And that was not our intention. So I hope people aren't disappointed."
Kim Cattrall Filmed Her 'And Just Like That...' Scene Without Her Former Co-Stars
Cattrall confirmed her return as the beloved Samantha Jones for the highly anticipated second season of the "Sex and the City" spin-off series, per Variety. The announcement came despite Cattrall and Parker's widely reported and well-publicized falling out.
Cattrall's reprisal of the iconic character Samantha Jones is a delight to fans who have longed to see her back on the screen. Her portrayal of the fiercely independent and sexually liberated Samantha captivated audiences throughout the original "Sex and the City" series, which ran from 1998 to 2004, and the subsequent movies.
The tension between Cattrall and Parker has been a topic of tabloid headlines for years, with rumors of a strained relationship and on-set conflicts. According to the news outlet, she will only return for one "cliffhanger" scene, which she filmed in New York City without seeing or speaking to co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis.
Kim Cattrall Says She Went Through 'Late-Blooming Sexuality'
According to People, Cattrall, who has always been known for her candid and empowering approach to sexuality, spoke about her personal growth and how she explored her desires later in life. In a recent live taping on New York Times "Modern Love Podcast" at the Tribeca film festival, she shared that she had experienced a "late-blooming sexuality" in her early years dating before meeting partner Russell Thomas.
"I had sort of a late-blooming sexuality. So for me, I was in a relationship where experimentation was readily available, and it was fun," Cattrall shared.
The actress teased her newfound perspective on relationships and sexuality allowed her to meet Thomas. According to the news outlet, the pair met in 2016 when Thomas worked at the BBC and have been together for seven years.
"We kind of liked each other, we kept in touch, and then he came out to Vancouver," she told the news outlet. "It was courageous of him because we didn't know each other besides having a few meals together. But he came, and we got along great, and we've been together ever since!"
