Actor John Amos is now claiming that his daughter, Shannon Amos, is the "primary suspect" in his elder abuse investigation.

His eldest daughter launched a GoFundMe account earlier this month asking for medical assistance and legal fees to the tune of $500,000 in order to help the "Good Times" actor. The 83-year-old first claimed that he didn't know why his daughter launched the GoFundMe and insisted that he was never "fighting for [his] life" in the ICU, as she had claimed.

Now, in a new video from his hospital bed, the actor is changing his story a bit. Now he is admitted that he is a victim of elder abuse as local law enforcement begins their investigation, but is naming Shannon as the "primary suspect."

On Friday morning, People magazine reported that the actor is claiming that his daughter, Shannon Amos, is the culprit behind his alleged older abuse.

The "Roots" star claimed that his daughter has "taken advantage" of him in a new video shared on social media by John's son K.C. Amos.

“She would be the primary suspect — if you would,” John said in a video filmed from his hospital bed. “I don’t know if that’s the right term to use or not. But she’s the one that I would attribute my elderly abuse to. It’s definitely a case of elderly abuse."

Last week, Shannon formally filed a complaint with the state alleging that her father was "the victim of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation." However, she did not respond to People's request for comment.

John Amos did respond to the magazine, though, telling his followers that he is doing "well" despite the elder abuse claims. "To all of my fans, I want to share this video with you to show you that I am not in the distressed condition as described in the GoFundMe page," John said. "As a matter of fact, I am doing well."

K.C. Amos Says The GoFundMe Was NOT Authorized By 'America's Dad'

John Amos, affectionately known as "America's Dad," seemed to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the GoFundMe created by his daughter, which has currently raised over $13,000 from 325 individual donations. However, it is far short of its $500,000 goal.

K.C. took to TikTok and then shared a video on his father's page that claimed: “The Go Fund was not authorized by John Amos.” In the caption of the Instagram post, it just says, “PERIOD.”

Fans had a lot of concerns for the actor over these back-and-forth allegations. “Wow. The daughter said Elder abuse. The son put this message out. He may not have authorized the Go Fund Me. But obviously something very concerning is going on,” one fan commented.

“Just wanted to mention that the handle says John Amos, but the person who posted this is his son, k.c. Amos, not John,” another follower wrote. “Something suspicious is going on,” a third fan chimed in.

“I believe his account may have been hacked, where is his son, I'd really like to know if he's okay, he is loved and appreciated, the world is better with him in it, blessings forward Sir,” another follower commented, while another fan alleged that his son, K.C., runs his father’s social media accounts.

“We take allegations of crimes very seriously. We can confirm that an allegation was made to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office that Mr. Amos could be a victim of a crime,” the release continued, putting “could be” in bold font. “We are thoroughly investigating that allegation and have consulted with our partners at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Department of Human Services. We have also been in contact with Mr. Amos and his attorney.”

“As with any potential criminal investigation we are unable to provide any additional comment on the case or the investigation,” the release added. “We have received questions from media outlets across the country and this will serve as our statement until we are in a position to release additional information.”
