Kesha Calls Jerry Seinfeld's 2017 Hug Snub The 'Saddest Moment Of My Life'

During Kesha's appearance on The Best Show podcast,  Kesha told host Tom Scharpling the "whole story" of the time she tried to hug stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld at a red carpet event at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 2017.

"Do you want to know the whole story? It's really sad," Kesha said. "You're going to get lots of clicks after this because I don't think I've ever told the whole story."

"So I learned TM [transcendental meditation] from David Lynch, the David Lynch Foundation," she explained. "I love meditating, so he was like, 'Could you do an event that's a charity event?' I was in the middle of a tour. I was exhausted, but I really love David Lynch and I heard that Jerry Seinfeld was going to be there."

She explained that "Seinfeld" meant a lot to her, especially while she was touring. "I used to take my computer when there was the CD, and I'd carry it around the world internationally, the little DVDs. When it got bumpy on planes, I'd pop in Seinfeld and I'd be like, "Everything's okay in the world,'" she explained.

She said that she "got really excited" to see Jerry Seinfeld at the charity event "because he brings me peace and love and all things good in the universe." However, she went on to say, "And then he didn't hug me in front of cameras. And it was the most depressing, and hilarious, but also so sad, it was like the saddest moment of my life."

Jerry Seinfeld Explains That He Won't 'Hug A Total Stranger'

A few days later, in an interview with Extra, Seinfeld tried to defend himself from the viral hug snub. He said that it was nothing personal against the "Living In My Head" singer but explained that he did not know her and is not in the habit of hugging strangers.

"I'm 63. I don't know every pop star, I don't know everyone," he said at the time. "When you get to be my age and you've done a couple of things, you have your own reality. In my reality, I don't hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone, say hello. I have to start somewhere."

It's this beautiful connection."

In May, Kesha released her new album "Gag Order" to the delight of fans.  The “All I Need Is You” singer later sat down for an interview with the U.S. Sun to discuss her collaboration with producer Rick Rubin and her intentions for her new album.

“I always wanted to empower people, to lift them and encourage them to love themselves,” she said. “I have beautiful moments — I cry from happiness. And the same day, I can also have severe anxiety seven hours later. It was a disservice not to let people know that my emotions come in and out like ocean tides.”

“Rick told me that the best song is a prayer. And that’s stuck with me — that’s how I look at my music,” she explained. “It’s not my job. It’s not just an activity I do that I enjoy. It’s a prayer. And hopefully, that can echo out to other people, and they can relate to it.”
