It's a good thing 50 Cent is prepping to merchandise out his new infamous catchphrase, because he's facing a possibly huge financial hit over it it as Teairra Marí highlighted in her revenge porn lawsuit.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, 50 recently moved to trademark "GET THE STRAP" to be used on stuff like phone cases, t-shirts and hats.
"Get the strap" is a term the "Candy Shop" rapper has recently used as a tagline on many of his social media posts, and refers to someone retrieving a firearm. 50 has been using the phrase to troll people rather than threaten, but the term is rooted in violence.
"Love and Hip Hop" star Teairra Marí claimed in her lawsuit that 50 "encouraged violence" against her to his 18 million IG followers when he used the term as a tagline on a sexually explicit post of the woman he allegedly obtained from her ex-boyfriend.
The reality star is now using 50 Cent's own words against him and claims it directly caused "long term emotional injuries, requiring psychiatric services."
50 has previously been ordered to pay millions when he lost a lawsuit for posting a sex tape of rapper Rick Ross' baby mama, so at least he'll have some cash lying around if he finds himself in a similar situation.
