The former athletes donned matching white tees, with the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee pairing his outfit with wash-out jeans while Wade rocked dark gray trousers. The pair completed their casual ensembles with sneakers, enjoying what appeared to be liquor placed on the table between them.

Diving into the day's tea, the Utah Jazz co-owner noted there were various "think pieces" floating around about his status as a man and his relationship with Union. Jumping in, Sharpe teased the media personality about the criticisms, confessing that he also slammed the Chicago native for making his wife pay the bills.

However, the former Miami Heat player was not offended, noting that the public misunderstood his family's 50/50 concept. "So I understand what 50/50 means. 50/50 means that everything in life, you got your half, and I got my half. We gonna put this sh*t together and try to make 100," the entertainer began.

"That's how 50/50 goes. That is not how our relationship works, all right? See everybody thinks 50/50; they think, 'Hey if he getting a sandwich, you gotta put 50% on that!'" The father of four continued. "That's not how it works."

According to Wade, in the couple's household, the 50/50 concept meant that Union paid one hundred percent of her personal responsibilities, such as catering to the needs of her parents and siblings. Likewise, the 3-time NBA champion did the same with his responsibilities. However, as spouses, the duo shared their home and bills.

Recalling what led to the 50/50 rule, the 41-year-old said, "We decided together because I think I said one time when we was in Miami, I said something about it being my house that I paid for. Wife looked at me, and she was like, 'You will never say that to me again when it's something that we share.'"

"And so my wife was like, 'when we move to L.A., I got half on it. You will never say my house again,'" Wade explained. "In our life, our home, 50/50, we purchase it together. Our daughter, anything that goes on with our daughter, 50/50 we share it together."

Wade insisted he did not mind footing the bills, especially when the family went on lavish trips. However, the father of four noted that he loved his wife for being a "working woman," "a boss," and "an independent woman," who willingly contributed to their expenses.

Gabrielle Union Opened Up About Her Family's Financial Situation & 50/50 Concept

Weeks before her husband clarified her remarks about their household affairs, the "Deliver Us from Eva" star made headlines for sharing how she and Wade handled their finances with a 50/50 concept. Opening up about the duo's equality system, the 50-year-old explained during an appearance on Bloomberg‘s Idea Generation that the spouses shared their expenses as a team.

"It’s weird to say I’m head of household because, in this household, we split everything 50/50," the Hollywood sensation chimed. According to the Black Reel Award winner, the couple felt responsible for their extended families, given their successful careers, and tried to cater to their relatives' needs.

"But in the other households that each of us has to support, it puts this – there’s always this gorilla on your back – that’s like, “You better work, you better work, you better work -are you going to sleep in? Somebody might not eat!" the mother of one explained, noting that her responsibilities frequently weighed heavy on her mind.
