In his memoir, "Pageboy," Page exposed instances of sexual assault and harassment, including a disturbing encounter with a famous actor.

In a candid interview with The Guardian, Elliot Page embarked on a deeply personal exploration, shedding light on his transformative journey towards self-discovery and personal liberation, which he eloquently narrates in his memoir "Pageboy." 

"I'm nervous but grateful for the opportunity to have written it," he shared, per Insider.

Throughout the memoir, Page unveiled the harrowing realities of his early years, when he grappled with a deep unease in his own body and sought ways to feel closer to his true identity. He intimately described moments saying, "I would press on my vagina, holding it, pinching and squeezing it, hoping I could aim."

The "Juno" star revealed that he never felt like a girl while growing up but lacked the language to articulate his true self to those around him.

Acting Was An 'Escape' For Him

As he delved into his memoir "Pageboy," Page shared intimate details about his battle with self-harm, experimentation with substances, an eating disorder, and periods of profound despair where suicidal thoughts crossed his mind. The actor revealed that his acting career served as an outlet for channeling his emotions and reshaping the world around him. 

"There was an element of escape. You're going to a place where it's your job to feel and connect as much as possible, and we live in a world that encourages us on some level not to," Page explained. "I was feeling things through other characters without permitting myself to do so in my life."

While his relationship with his father and stepmother remains unresolved, Page said that the process of writing "Pageboy" has transformed his bond with his mother. "It has allowed us to talk about things for the first time in a meaningful, sincere way," he stated.

Elliot Page Says A Famous Actor Threatened Him With Sexual Harassment

Page's memoir also delved into more disturbing territory, as he revealed instances of sexual assault and harassment he experienced within the entertainment industry.

Page wrote about a particularly traumatic incident involving a highly renowned actor whose identity remains undisclosed. In the memoir, he said that this actor threatened him with sexual violence, attempting to undermine his sexual orientation despite having publicly come out as gay.

Quoting the actor's words from their rough encounter, Page wrote, "'I'm going to f**k you to make you realize you aren't gay. I'm going to lick your a**hole. It is going to taste like lime. You're not gay." Reflecting on the incident, Page added in his memoir, "Power works in funny ways. He was, and still is, one of the most famous actors in the world."

Despite his struggles, Page emphasized that the film industry is not solely populated by individuals with harmful intentions. 

The "Umbrella Academy" star shared that he has found solace in the genuine friendships he has cultivated within Hollywood, which have provided invaluable support during his most difficult moments.

When asked about the best person he has had the privilege of working with, Page shared, "Someone like Hugh Jackman is lovely. He's just so fucking cool." 

"Then there's Julianne Moore," he added, per The Guardian. "I feel so lucky to have worked with Julianne and to have her in my life. She's been an incredible friend to me, and so supportive and caring. So I've been really fortunate to have mentors in my life who've helped me a lot at certain times."
