'America's Got Talent' Winner Mat Franco Sues Ex-Business Partner for $1 Million Over Las Vegas Magic Show

"America's Got Talent" season nine winner Mat Franco is accusing his business partners of screwing him over on his Las Vegas magic show and now he’s suing demanding millions.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Franco – who was the first magician to win "AGT" — says he entered into an agreement with Base Entertainment in 2014 and they were to produce a magic show in Las Vegas for Franco to star.

He says the company was to figure out the funding, budget, securing a location and other general production and marketing duties. The deal had Franco performing seven performances per week over six days for 40 weeks per year.

The show takes place at The LINQ Hotel and Casino at the Mat Franco Theater and is still running.

The parties would later amend the deal and he would complete the final show under their deal in June 2018. Franco says he was to be paid 50% of the profits after Base Entertainment achieved 125% of recoupment.

Franco claims Base failed to let him audit the books for the shows and accused them of keeping secret the terms of the arrangements with ticket vendors used to sell tickets for the show. He says without that info, it's impossible to know what he is owed.

The magician says Base Entertainment has told him they are exercising the option to extend the deal by two years but he claims it’s invalid due to their breaches. The company believes Franco is contractually obligated to continue performing at the LINQ Hotel.

Franco is pleading for the judge to order that the deal is terminated, plus damages in excess of $1 million.
