Things have taken quite a turn in the case of John Amos and the elder abuse his daughter, Shannon Amos, claims that the 83-year-old actor suffered.

The "Good Times" actor became known as "America's Dad" after starring in the CBS series, which led fans to turn out their pockets. One fan even donated $500 to his GoFundMe, saying that he "provided us with a sense of representation at a time when black actors were few and far between."

However, on Thursday afternoon, the "Roots" actor revealed that he is not a victim of elder abuse and says he has no idea why his daughter created the GoFundMe. His daughter quickly fired back on Instagram, saying that there's "another side" to the story!

Shannon Amos began her GoFundMe page with footage of her dancing with her "Celebrity Dad." She explained that the video had been filmed last November and called it “a cherished moment forever etched in my heart.”

She went on to say that she got a “distressing” call last month that her father was hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee. She said that her father was “fighting for his life in the ICU” and alleged that her father had been the victim of elder abuse.

“During the following weeks, my family and I unraveled a horrifying truth—my dad had fallen victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation,” she wrote. “Determined to seek justice, we are working closely with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the local Sheriff’s Department in my father’s home state.”

She alleged that his home had been “violated” and “stripped of anything valuable.” Although she didn’t go into details about the suspected elder abuse or his alleged injuries, she told fans that any money contributed to the GoFundMe would cover his “legal expenses, long-term care, ongoing medical treatment, and the costs associated with his recent hospitalization in another state away from home.”

She noted that the actor would require “extensive medical care and rehabilitation,” telling followers that “Your support is crucial in helping us provide the necessary care and support for John during this challenging time.”

Despite the compelling plea made by his daughter, TMZ reached out to John Amos, who shut down claims that he was actually the victim of elder abuse. He said that the explanation she wrote in his GoFundMe was "a lie." He went on to say that "no one is abusing him" and he hasn't "been fighting for his life," as per the outlet. He also claimed that he had "no idea" why his daughter would start the GoFundMe.

Amos' rep, Belinda Foster, also shed light on the actor's condition. Although he was in the hospital, it was because his lower body was reportedly filling with fluid all the way up to his abdomen. This caused complications with his heart, but fortunately, doctors have been able to drain all of it, and Amos is well on the way to recovery.

Shannon Amos took to Instagram to say that there was “another side” of the story. “I am not crazy,” she told her followers, telling them that there was an open investigation with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and encouraging them to "dig" into the story for themselves.

She also said that Belinda Foster is a “travel agent pretending to be a publicist.” She told followers that “you all have no idea what’s really going on.” She said that she didn’t want to name names but “invited” her followers to “do a little research” on their own.

She also told TMZ to reach out to her for the “real story” and encouraged them to check with law enforcement to get more "accurate" details about the case. She said that her father’s “closest” family and friends are standing with her, adding, “I hope that justice is served.” Adding that she "has the receipts," she promised her followers that she is telling the truth.

"I am doing it whether my dad likes it or not to protect his best interest," she added.
