Michael J. Fox Foundation Settles $250k Battle with Family of Man Who Died With Parkinson’s

Michael J. Fox’s foundation has reached a settlement with the woman who sued demanding the return of a $250,000 donation that came from her brother.
On October 15, court documents were filed revealing the foundation was finalizing and executing the settlement documents with a woman named Jenny Malkin.
The terms of the settlement are confidential but the deal will dismiss the case.
As The Blast first reported, Malkin sued The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’ Research last year. She explained her late brother, Aaron Paul, suffered from Parkinson’s for more than ten years.
Malkin said that prior to his death, her brother's physical and mental health had declined significantly.
On December 19, 2013, she says her brother changed the sole beneficiary of his Fidelity Investments account from her to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Malkin said she is the decedent’s only sibling and living immediate family member.
She believes her brother had no intention of completely cutting off his sister or other family members. The account had more than $250,000 prior to his passing.
The lawsuit demanded a court order declaring her brother lacked the mental capacity to change the beneficiary of his account, declare the change null and void and for the funds be distributed to Malkin.
