Nicki Minaj borrowed some jewelry from Roseark Boutique, and they claim she messed up the expensive pieces.
Nicki Minaj Is A Shifty Client
The boutique is accusing Nicki of damaging the pieces they lent to her and claiming that she brought them back late. They are taking her to court for the cost of the damages, according to several news organizations.
The Trini-born rapper was loaned the pieces for an appearance through a connection with her stylist Brett Alan Nelson. A contract was signed for the jewelry that cost $26,239.50. The boutique reached out to the stylist on several occasions.
They claimed that Nelson did not return 66 pieces by the agreed contracted deadline. Furthermore, two were noticeably damaged when he finally returned them: a set of earrings and a leaf ring.
Nicki Minaj’s Camp Has Denied The Allegations
A source close to Nelson and Nicki claims that these are fabrications; everything was returned on time and in the manner given to the stylist and the rapper. Plus, they didn’t complain about the jewelry until they already had them in their possession after an undisclosed amount of time.
Nicki’s attorney also released a statement confirming, “We have not been presented with any evidence that Nicki damaged any of the jewelry at issue.” The statement continues.
“This lawsuit appears to be nothing more than an ordinary insurance claim by the jeweler designed to generate publicity for itself and extract a payment to which it is not entitled. We will defend the lawsuit vigorously.”
What Are They Suing Nicki Minaj For?
The store insists that they have not gotten paid by Nicki or her stylist. They have made several collection attempts. They want the sum from both parties. Meanwhile, Nicki’s team believes that the boutique is attempting to cash in on the celebrity of Nicki.
The lawsuit comes on the heels of Nicki announcing the release of her first studio album since 2018. She wrote on Twitter, “10/20/23 The Album” She added a few emojis to confirm the news: a CD and a pink bow.
Nicki is focused on putting the final touches on her untitled album for now. And seeing as her lawyers have not received any evidence backing up the allegations, she is pushing forward and minding her business.
Nicki Minaj Has More Going On
Nicki is a mom now and a married woman. She is making a new album and recently shared with her Queen Radio listeners that she is starting her Heavy On It label.
Her new album will likely come out under her new label plus, she has a song on the Barbie movie soundtrack with Ice Spice. If the store attempts to use Nicki as a come-up for their boutique, as her lawyer suggested, they got the wrong one.
Nicki is known not to back down from a lawsuit. Just ask the woman who is, in what seems like endless litigation accusing Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, of sexual assault.
