Wendy Williams' only son Kevin Hunter Jr is breaking his silence about his mother's shaky health condition while spilling the tea about her severe alcoholism and the sketchy people in her life.
Williams, who is known for hosting the eponymous show, "The Wendy Williams Show," for 13 years and 13 seasons, began her downward spiral in late 2021 after she was mostly absent from the 2021-2022 season due to health issues.
The entertainment personality was said to be battling an auto-immune disorder called Graves’ disease that left her plagued with several issues, resulting in her being towed away from the spotlight.
Wendy Williams' Son Kevin Jr Believes She's Being Taken Advantage Of
In June 2022, Williams' talk show came to an end and fans were promised a comeback from the Queen of TV via a podcast show. However, the former radio DJ is yet to return to the spotlight, leaving fans concerned about her whereabouts
.
Now, her 22-year-old son is shedding light on his mother's mental and physical state in his first interview since her health decline. Speaking to The US Sun, Kevin Jr revealed that his mother's health isn't the best, but those around her haven't focused on making her well-being the priority.
He told the publication, "What's been made more important by the people around her is that while her health may not be great, she needs to keep on earning income, and in my opinion, that should not be a priority at all."
The only son of the former talk show host seemingly referenced Williams' manager Will Selby — who has been in control of her affairs since her health issues — claiming that his mother is being taken advantage of by "whoever has been hired."
According to the young adult, the "Think Like A Man Too" star lived with him from late 2021 to around the spring of 2022 and her health only worsened. Nevertheless, he tried his best to provide her with the best care, often taking her to alcohol-free restaurants because of her issues with alcoholism.
Unfortunately, the reverse has been the case since she was placed under guardianship, with those around her not protecting her and taking advantage of her alcoholism. "I know the rate that she uses alcohol isn't like a normal person- and we've spoken about it. I've said 'This is one thing where you don't know how to approach it normally, and that's fine," he explained.
The college student continued, "There are a lot of people who are very aware that there is an issue with her drinking, and how that issue may be helped, but I think these people are taking advantage of it while allowing it to play out to make it look like they aren't causing the issue."
Kevin believes that if care is not taken, things could get "fatal" for his mother "because it affects her way worse than a normal person since it stays in her system." He recalled a particular moment in April 2022 when a rare sighting of Williams saw her in a bar.
"They're just putting their hands up. When someone's hired help, it's very easy to just allow certain things to play out," he said of the celebratory appearance. "I never want to shame anybody, but in terms of asking if that person is there so that my mom can be the healthiest person and have a long career, stuff like that, they aren't in it for that."
A Collusion Between Williams' Manager & Guardian
Although Williams was responsible for choosing the people around her, her son believes forces beyond her control imposed those people on her.
Opening up about her court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey, Kevin said, "It's been really sad what's been allowed to happen, and ever since the court hearings ended, something just has to be brought to light about what's going on and how much people are taking in this situation."
He added, "In terms of who is there now, people have put other things in front of her actually healing and getting better, and unfortunately, unlike many other alcoholics, she is worth a lot more money." Per Williams' son, Morrissey has a relationship with his mother's manager Selby, who he often refers to as the jeweler.
"I know that Sabrina has a relationship with the jeweler, and I would assume though that they are cool with each other. This is how this was created. And it seems like it's more about making sure he [Morrissey] is okay," he said of their relationship.
Kevin affirms that he doesn’t think Morrissey is doing a good job as a guardian. In his words, "I think that based on her actions, I'd have to assume something is going on that she's not telling me. Whether it be that she is receiving income on the side or what, but there is a lot of her pushing away of myself and everybody down here, and saying that she's not going give updates."
Nevertheless, Kevin is hopeful that things will change for his beloved mother. "I'm praying that whoever is in control now doesn't ruin whatever hope there is for her to get back up again," he concluded.
