Why Taylor Swift & Matty Healy Broke Up
Swift and Healy finally put an end to their relationship, and according to reports, the pair realized they were not "really compatible" and it was just a summer fling.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, a source said, "They are both extremely busy and realized they're not really compatible with each other."
They added, "Taylor's friends want what's best for her and aren't shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship."
TMZ, on Monday, revealed the news of Swift's separation from Healy, as they announced that the singer was "single again."
In early May, the pair set tongues wagging about a possible relationship after Healy was spotted at several of Swift's concerts. The indie artist, even on one occasion, wore a shirt with the art of the songstress' "1989" album cover.
Swift and Healy were subsequently photographed kissing and holding hands, further adding fuel to the rumors that they had become an item.
'She's Allowed To Let Off Some Steam'
After her swift breakup with Healy, a report by Page Six claimed that the duo's relationship was bound to end and that the "Out of the Woods" singer was merely having "fun" following her 6-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn.
"Everyone who really knows her has been saying all along that this was a fun, good time thing that would last as long as it lasted and would be no big deal once it was done," an insider shared with the news outlet.
They continued, "She will not be writing albums about this one. It was a summertime thing. Does everyone have amnesia about Tom Hiddleston? Jesus Christ."
Swift famously dated British actor and Marvel star Tom Hiddleston briefly after her breakup with music producer and DJ Calvin Harris.
The insider also chastised the amount of media attention Swift received for her fling with Healy, calling it "stupid."
They said, "She's allowed to let off some steam and sew [sic] her oats afterwards without people claiming first that she's 'head over heels' and then that she's 'breaking up' with the guy. It's not a breakup. It's a natural evolution of a fun little thing whose moment is over."
Taylor Swift & Matty Healy's Highly Controversial Relationship
Many of Swift's fans, popularly known as Swifties, have heaved a sigh of relief following the news of her breakup with Healy, as the beloved "Cruel Summer" singer was plagued with controversies due to the romantic affair.
Swift was called out for associating with Healy, who had been known to make sexist and racially insensitive comments about people, and for his anti-semitic behavior during a performance.
The 1975's frontman was especially criticized for his nasty remarks about American rapper Ice Spice, whom Swift recently collaborated with on the remix of her song, "Karma."
While on a podcast, Healy referred to Ice Spice as "one of the Innuit Spice girls" and also called her a "chubby Chinese lady."
He later offered an apology to the rapper at one of his band's New Zealand shows, saying, "I just feel a bit bad, and I'm kind of a bit sorry if I've offended you."
The indie-rock artist added, per Billboard, "Ice Spice, I'm sorry. It's not because I'm annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It's because I don't want Ice Spice to think I'm a d**k. I love you, Ice Spice."
Taylor Swift's Split From Joe Alwyn
Swift's breakup with Alwyn came as a shock to everyone, as the two had spent six years dating and were once rumored to be engaged. According to People magazine, the pair broke up mainly over their "differences in their personalities."
Swift and Alwyn were very private about their romance, a stark difference from the singer's past relationships.
During their time together, the former couple collaborated on her eighth and ninth studio albums, "Folklore" and "Evermore."
Neither Swift nor Alwyn has spoken openly about the end of their 6-year relationship, but the duo are reportedly still amicable.
