Anne Heche's ex James Tupper is creating lovely memories with their son!
The former partner of the late actress recently treated their rarely-seen child to a special moment. The actor shared a relationship with Heche from 2007 to 2018, resulting in the birth of their baby boy in early 2009.
James Tupper Gives Son Atlas Memorable Red Carpet Debut
The duo appeared at Nancy Davis' 30th annual Race To Erase Gala in Los Angeles. They looked sharp and coordinated in black suits and crisp white shirts as they posed side by side on the red carpet.
This heartfelt appearance comes nearly a year after the tragic passing of his former partner, Heche, who suffered injuries in a fiery car crash in Mar Vista, California, in August 2022. Tupper told Daily Mail it was the 14-year-old's first time on the red carpet.
During the interview, he disclosed that the teenager is thriving and doing well in various aspects of his life, enthusiastically adding, "He is doing well in school and is such a great kid all around." When asked about Atlas's interest in acting, the "Revenge" star revealed that the boy has no plans to follow in his parent's footsteps.
Tupper revealed, "He does not want to be an actor." However, rather than wanting to be in the movie industry, the proud father shared, "He is really into tennis. He takes it seriously and plays every day for about two hours."
In coping with the loss of Heche, the "Men in Trees," actor expressed that he and his son support each other. Reflecting on their affection for her, he noted that they "miss Anne every day" and "love her."
In January, Atlas opened up publicly for the first time since her tragic passing. While the family was involved in a legal battle over her estate, this time, they spoke honestly about their deep feelings for the "Donnie Brasco" actress, offering a heartfelt glimpse into their endless love and memories of her.
In an interview with The Los Angeles Inquisitor, Atlas shared heartfelt words about his late mother. He stated, "My mom was the brightest person I've ever known. She always knew how to solve a problem or help a friend. She always knew the right thing to do. I cannot say how grateful I am or how much I miss her."
His father added, "Anne and I were together for more than a decade, we have a beautiful son together, and in that time, she was the very definition of light in our lives, always bringing fun, love, and energy. She will always be remembered in our hearts and minds."
The 57-year-old's heartfelt message about his ex-partner may surprise those who remember the legal battle he was involved in with Heche's first son Homer Laffoon over her estate last year.
Homer Laffoon Gains Upper Hand In Legal Battle Over Anne Heche's Estate
Following the "Psycho" star's passing in August 2022, a legal dispute ensued between the 21-year-old and her ex-boyfriend, Tupper, regarding control over her estate. Because she passed away without a will, the ongoing legal drama commenced in September after the court granted Homer authority.
However, The Blast reported that in his court documents, Tupper cited a 2011 email where Heche allegedly stated that he should be in charge of her assets in the event of her death. Unfortunately, the court swiftly dismissed his objections to Homer gaining control over her assets as his argument failed to convince them.
Legal documents revealed that the court granted the young adult "special powers" to oversee and manage the "Wag the Dog" actress's estate. This included taking "possession of all the personal property of the estate of the decedent and preserve it from damage, waste, and injury."
He was instructed to move her property to a storage facility and take inventory of the items within the designated time frame. In addition, he was granted the authority to safeguard her earnings from the publication agreement of her book, "Call Me Anne," released in January 2023.
The court also gave him access to the author's financial records and the ability to file her tax returns. Furthermore, he now had the power to "commence and maintain or defend" legal actions and proceedings on her behalf.
