Sydney Sweeney's Dad Couldn't Bare To Watch His Daughter's Racy 'Euphoria' Scenes: He 'Turned It Off'

Sydney Sweeney has revealed that her father "walked out" on watching her nude scene in "Euphoria." She opened up about the incident in a recent interview, also noting that she didn't prepare her father for the show's explicitness.

A year ago, Sweeney herself requested that the unnecessary racy contents in the show's script be cut out, to which the director obliged. The actress is engaged to Jonathan Davino, whom she was recently spotted with exiting a hotel on the French coastline.

Speaking in an upcoming episode of "Sunday Today with Willie Geist," Sweeney revealed that her father, Steven, wasn't comfortable watching her racy scenes in "Euphoria," per Page Six.

"My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out," said Sweeney, who stars in the HBO show as Cassie. She added, "But my grandma, my grandma — she's a big supporter of mine. She's a big fan of mine."

It appears that her father thought the show was just like every other one and was caught off guard when he saw that his daughter had to go nude on multiple occasions.

Meanwhile, Sweeney also blamed herself for his reaction, saying that she did not "prepare" him at all. She, however, admitted that they usually never discussed work, which might have led to the omission on her part.

Sweeney said, "When I talk to my dad, it's usually not about work … We talk like father-daughter conversations."

Last year, the actress revealed in an interview with the Independent that she wasn't comfortable with her "Euphoria" character having to do so many nude scenes.

At the time, she shared that she took her concerns to "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson, requesting that he remove racy contents that weren't "necessary."

"There are moments where [my character] Cassie was supposed to be shirtless, and I would tell Sam, 'I don't really think that's necessary here,'" she told the outlet.

Sydney then noted that Levinson honored her request, adding that the filmmaker didn't try to force her to do explicit scenes.

"I've never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show," she added. "When I didn't want to do it, he didn't make me."

While Sweeney's character in "Euphoria" is known for having relationship issues, the actress herself has that part of her life all figured out.

People magazine confirmed last year that she had gotten engaged to her boyfriend, Davino after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger at an event in Los Angeles.

The duo has been linked since 2018 but has kept their relationship off the media's radar.

Still, they have been spotted enjoying each other's company on multiple occasions. Most recently, they were seen departing the luxe Hotel Martinez on the French Riviera with Sweeney's diamond sparkler visible on her hands.

On why she keeps her relationship out of the spotlight, the actress said in her cover story for Cosmopolitan in January 2022 that she does so to enjoy what it feels like to be normal.

"I don't date people in the spotlight," she told the outlet, per People. "I don't date actors, musicians, or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way, and it's easiest. I have a great support system."

She added, "I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, 'Oh no, I'm shining too bright, and I need to step back.' "

At the time, the actress also noted the kind of qualities she wants in a partner, explicitly pointing out that she wants "a best friend."

"I look for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of, and we laugh every single day."
