Singer Britney Spears has reportedly agreed to let her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, move to Hawaii with her two teenage sons.

The couple was married from 2004 to 2007 and shares two children together: Sean Preston Federline, 17, and Jayden James Federline, 16. A few years after their divorce, in 2013, K-Fed married volleyball player Victoria Prince, who had a few more children together.

Victoria has reportedly been offered a job at a sports department at a university in Hawaii, leading the family to consider moving to the state this summer. Although Kevin threatened to take Britney to court to have a judge approve the move, it looks like Britney has given her consent to let her two boys - who are still minors - make the move.

On Wednesday, May 31, Britney’s attorney Mathew Rosengart reportedly sent off a letter to Kevin’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan. In the letter, as reported by Page Six, Rosengart says that Sean “will no longer be a minor” when he turns 18 in September. The family was looking to make the move by August 1.

In addition, Rosengart also noted that Jayden, at 16, was also “nearing the age of maturity.” According to the letter, Rosengart wrote, “To her credit, Britney Spears will not interfere with and consents to the relocation.” Therefore, Kevin will not need to get the courts involved and can proceed with the family’s move to Hawaii as planned.

That being said, Rosengart’s letter did not end there. He went on to say that he “did not anticipate a dispute” when Kevin’s lawyer first contacted him about the move back in April. At the time, he says that he had urged K-Fed and his legal team to keep the possibility of a move “private for the sake and dignity of all parties involved, including the children.”

“I was particularly concerned because your client previously — and appallingly — violated their privacy, while egregiously violating Britney’s privacy, by releasing a private video of Britney with her children, which was preceded by a tabloid television interview,” Rosengart wrote, referring to three videos that Kevin posted and then quickly deleted on Instagram.

Those videos, which appear to be filmed by her two sons, seemed to be recording Britney without her knowledge. Although some users felt that Kevin was trying to use the videos to show an example of “bad parenting,” most fans actually supported Britney, and said that the videos made it seem like she was just trying to do her best.

Rosengart also slammed Kaplan for turning the move into headlines, as Kaplan had spoken to both TMZ and Entertainment Tonight about the move and how they planned to take Britney to court. An article published only the day before Britney gave her consent said that Kevin was only giving her until the end of the week before he would begin the process to involve a judge.

In his letter, Rosengart wrote, “It was more than disappointing that you nevertheless chose to publicize this matter, creating unnecessary drama and a false ‘dispute’ by publicly discussing the issue and your letter,”

“When I called you yesterday to express my dismay that you had done so, you denied doing so. Apparently, you did not realize that [TMZ’s] May 30 story itself literally quotes you as the story’s source,” he revealed. Rosengart said that Kevin’s attorney “served no good faith purpose” in talking to the media, calling them “undignified, ungracious, and unnecessary.”

“It was also ironic, given the statement in your April 28 letter that in addition to an employment opportunity in Hawaii for Mr. Federline’s wife, the children wanted to be ‘more sheltered from the media’s scrutiny.’ That is commendable,” he went on to write. “But your media interview did nothing to shelter them; instead, it publicized the issue in the media.”

Rosengart went on to praise Britney as “an icon, loved and respected by millions throughout the world.” Although it’s been reported that she physically hasn’t seen her two sons in over a year, Rosengart went on to call Britney a “loving and supportive mother” who is still “faithfully supporting” her children despite their estrangement.
