Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are getting a familiar face to help out with their ongoing custody war, because the private judge they appointed to handle the private trial is the same guy who married the couple!

The court in Los Angeles just approved the couple keeping their upcoming custody trial behind closed doors, and approved the private judge that the couple wanted to preside over the case.

The Honorable John Ouderkirk is now retired, and during his career served as a police officer and the Deputy District Attorney of Los Angeles.

He also married the couple on August 23, 2014 during a non-denominational civil ceremony at the Pitt-Jolie family's French estate, Château Miraval.

Interestingly enough, Ouderkirk has been involved in the case for quite a while, and was brought in when the couple first began their divorce. He actually issued the warning, that The Blast broke, against Angelina that she could possibly lose custody for interfering in the relationship of the children and Pitt.

Sources close to the case tell us Jolie was not happy about Ouderkirk being the private judge to handle the custody trial, because of what happened in the past. However, we're told he has been very fair throughout the proceedings.

As we reported, the custody evaluations for the children have been ongoing, and Ouderkirk will definitely use those findings to reach an ultimate decision on custody for the family.

Pitt has been adamant that he is worried the trial will negatively effect the children, and believes Jolie is dragging out the proceedings as a personal vendetta.
