The "American Idol" alum previously responded to allegations of a toxic work environment in an Instagram statement, emphasizing her commitment to creating a safe and healthy working environment.

Kelly Clarkson recently got candid about relocating her talk show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show," to New York City. During an interview with Nancy O'Dell on "TalkShopLive," the 41-year-old singer shared her heartfelt reasons for the move, highlighting the need for change for herself and her two children, Remington "Remy" Alexander, aged 7, and River Rose, aged 8.

She shared her gratitude for her dedicated crew and talked about how crucial moving to New York City was, saying it was either that or the show would have to end.

The pop star said, per People magazine, "Obviously, we've been very successful, and I love everybody I work with, and we have such great relationships. So I talked to them because I said, 'Guys, I need you to know what's happening." She added, "It's either I'm not going to be able to continue with the show, or I got to go East Coast."

She continued, "Covid pointed out [that] being isolated and so far from your family [is] not good for anyone. And my family is East Coast — they're North Carolina-based. So it was one of those things where I just had to — also there were a lot of personal things going on."

Delving into the matter, Clarkson shared that ongoing efforts are taking place personally and professionally behind the scenes. She also expressed her desire to work in a healthy and enjoyable environment, stating, "I'm getting too old to work in an environment that isn't healthy and fun." 

Reflecting on her past experiences, she shared, "I had to do that for years in meetings and working with incredibly mean people sometimes, so I just didn't want to do anymore. I'm focused wholly on the talk show for a minute, but I also am working on things in the background."

Earlier this month, "The Kelly Clarkson Show" made headlines due to allegations about its workplace environment in a Rolling Stone article. The article claimed that crew members were "overworked" and "underpaid" and featured a crew member's testimony who said working on the show had negatively impacted their "mental health."

In response to these serious allegations, Clarkson took to Instagram to address the issue directly. In her statement, she wrote, "In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I've always led with my heart and what I believed to be right. I love my team at 'The Kelly Clarkson Show,' and to find out that anyone is feeling unheard and or disrespected on this show is unacceptable."

Looking ahead to the show's upcoming move to the East Coast, Clarkson reaffirmed her dedication to ensuring a positive work environment for her existing and new team members in New York.

"I have always been and will continue to be, committed to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment at 'The Kelly Clarkson Show,'" the singer stated on her Instagram page. "As we prepare for a move to the East Coast, I am more committed than ever to ensuring that not only our team that is moving but also our new team in NY is comprised of the best and kindest in the business."

As a part of her commitment to ensuring a safe and fair workplace, the American Idol alum announced plans for leadership training for all senior staff, including herself. 

She said, "Part of that build will include leadership training for all senior staff, including myself. There is always room to grow and ensure we are all being/becoming the best versions of ourselves in any business, especially regarding leadership. To ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated."
