Gabby Petito’s parents and family have scored yet ANOTHER major victory in their legal war against Brian Laundrie’s family.
She was killed by Brian while on a cross-country National Parks road trip.
Gabby’s autopsy revealed she died from strangulation. Her body was discovered in a Wyoming park on September19th; however, she had been dead for approximately three-to-four weeks.
Gabby Petito’s Parents Continue To Battle Brian Laundrie’s Parents

Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt, Gabby’s parents, have been going head-to-head with Chris and Roberta Laundrie, Brian’s parents, since her tragic 2021 death.
The Blast previously reported on the Petito-Schmidt family lawyer, Patrick Reilly, was working to obtain a letter written by Roberta to Brian which instructed him to “burn after reading.”
In the alleged letter, Roberta also reportedly offered to buy a shovel and help “bury the body.”
Roberta Laundrie Allegedly Wrote A Letter Titled “Burn After Reading”
“Nothing can make me stop loving you, nothing will or could ever divide us no matter what we do, or where we go or what we say — we will always love each other,” the letter reportedly reads. “If you’re in jail, I will bake a cake with a file in it. If you need to dispose of a body, I will show up with a shovel and garbage bags.”
Reilly filed a request to gain access to the letter earlier this year, but Circuit Court Judge Danielle Brewer denied the original request for the potentially explosive letter due to a technicality.
The original request asked for all documents exchanged between Brian and his parents between July 2, 2021 to September 1, 2021.
Roberta’s lawyer was working to block Gabby’s parents from getting a copy, but that wish was not granted.
Petito-Schmidt Family Get Victory In Civil Lawsuit Against Laundries
Per WFLA, a Florida judge ruled the undated letter written by Roberta to Brian can be included as evidence in the Petito-Schmidt’s civil lawsuit against the Laundries and their lawyer, Steven Bertolino.
Chris and Roberta’s lawyer argued the FBI already had the letter when Brian’s body was discovered; however, Gabby’s family lawyer argued the letter was found WITH Brian’s body.
Gabby’s former fiancé and eventual murderer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He confessed to killing the 22-year-old “van life”vlogger in a handwritten series of notebook entries.

Bertolino previously told ABC7 that Reilly’s request for the letter was his attempt to “sensationalize” old evidence to bolster the case.
“A letter was written by Roberta Laundrie and given to her son, Brian, before Brian and Gabby left Florida for New York,” Bertolino said in an email. “This information is not new. The FBI had possession of the letter and turned it over to me back in June of 2022 with the other personal items that belonged to Brian. Attorney Reilly is trying to further sensationalize the contents of this letter to bolster his case by taking the unrelated comments in the letter out of context. If Mr. Reilly’s allegations had any merit a reasonably intelligent person would think the FBI would have acted on such information. You can thus draw your own conclusions as to the legitimacy of Mr. Reilly’s allegations.”
