During her cover interview, Robbie revealed that despite her role as the live-action Barbie, she never remembers owning a doll as a child. She said, "I don't think I did. I know my cousin had a bunch of Barbies, and I'd go to her house. It wasn't that I ever wanted to play Barbie or dreamt of being Barbie or anything like that."
The "Wolf of Wall Street" star also explained that she never thought about playing the role of Barbie until they were "years into developing the project."
Robbie was recently at CinemaCon to promote the film alongside co-stars Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera and director Greta Gerwig. "Barbie" also features actresses Issa Rae as "President Barbie" and Ana Cruz Kayne as "Supreme Court Justice Barbie." Talented actors like Simu Liu and Ncuti Gatwa portray other versions of Ken in the movie.

In her conversation with Vogue magazine, Robbie reflected on the meaning of her Barbie character. She said, "I'm like, Okay, she's a doll. She's a plastic doll. She doesn't have organs. If she doesn't have organs, she doesn't have reproductive organs."
Robbie explained that Barbie didn't "feel sexual desire" because she didn't have the required organs. She said the doll has been "sexualized" but "should never be sexy." The Chanel Ambassador added, "People can project sex onto her."
Robbie explained that the ultimate idea of Barbie is girl power in all areas and not deep sexuality. She stated, "Yes, she can wear a short skirt because it's fun and pink. Not because she wanted you to see her butt."

During the interview, Robbie said the dirty feet weren't her decision, as Tarantino prevented her from washing them. She explained, "But my feet were dirty because I'd been walking around the set. They stayed dirty in the movie because Quentin said, 'Don't. Don't clean them. Someone ran in to do it, and he was like, 'No, it's real. Keep it.'"
